I am just curious how literate people are on the Book of Mormon.  So here's a poll just to see.

Now, just for fun (I'm hoping it's fun).  In addition to the poll questions, I wonder how many can pass this fairly simple quiz (without google, please).  Let's be fair.

1) What is the secondary title of the Book of Mormon?

2) Who are the two primary nations in the Book of Mormon?

3) What time period does the Book of Mormon cover?

4) Who is the primary author of the Book of Mormon?

5) What is the single greatest and most repeated theme in the Book of Mormon?

Please change the text color of responses to WHITE so others taking the quiz later won't see them.

Any takers?

"Another Testament of Jesus Christ". This was added twenty or so years ago.

Nephites and Lamanites.

The time span represented by the Book of Mormon narrative covers from the time of the tower of Babel, perhaps several thousand years BC, until about AD 421. The actual Nephite narrative runs from a bit before 600 BC until about AD 421.

4) Who is the primary author of the Book of Mormon?

The single most prolific author in the Book of Mormon is probably Nephi, son of Lehi. The book itself is an abridgment redacted principally by the prophet Mormon, from whom the book takes its modern name.

As the frontispiece states: "to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations"

I could be wrong, but I find it interesting that the non-LDS person who felt s/he had a pretty good understanding of the BoM storyline was less confident about knowing LDS doctrine, and vice versa (I can surmize this, since I am one of the two). This probably means that LDS.net is a source of doctrinal understanding for some non-members.

I presume it was meant to be a closed book quiz...

3) What time period does the Book of Mormon cover?

Around 1000BC to 400AD

4) Who is the primary author of the Book of Mormon?

Joseph Smith

5) What is the single greatest and most repeated theme in the Book of Mormon?

@Vort,

The poll/quiz was supposed to be for non-Mormons.

:D

I am highly entertained by my own cluelessness. I had thought this was some kind of build-on-the-last-one thread, so I was planning to ask some questions, too.

Sometimes I totally crack myself up.

Okay...my time to fess up. I asked @Vort to do it, and put my name down. Obviously, he messed it up, so I was hoping to just to lie low. Of course, you had to call me out, so I submitted my answers, humble and mediocre though they probably be.
