What I do love, however, is that even though my wife doesn't care for this calling, she puts everything into making it the most fun, and educational, class for the kids.  She even makes sure she gets the things she doesn't have a testimony of 100% accurate.  She's awesome.

I hear a lot of stories that also align with my personal experience that goes this way:   I start off with a calling I didn't like and had to struggle through... a year or 2 later I start getting the hang of it, get comfortable, and start to love doing it and soon thereafter, I get released.  It's been a repeating cycle for me.

Hey hey  hey!  I follow!  It's a 3H saga!

Congratulations Mrs. Grunt.

How did Primary Activities go?

It went OK, I think.  We asked the parents to attend and pretty much laid it out that our work is to support the children's goals, so it's important that they set them.  The next meeting will be with just the primary children, where we are going to set activities as a group that assist our communal goals (which will hopefully support individual goals).  That makes sense in my head.  Not sure it does here.

I'm doing the exact same thing!  It makes perfect sense.  I'll post what I did in that other thread.

I'll just post this here to remind myself how humbling this new calling is.

That probably means you are doing well at it!

Primary Activities?  We have not met for activities since the last week of February.  :(

I've moved Primary Activities online.  I believe it's working well.

We have not done this.  Parents are overwhelmed just trying to keep up with having the rest of the school year moved online - especially the parents with multiple kids in elementary school and primary activities.

I don't think there's one "right" answer here, rather both approaches are right if they work for the people involved.  I do see benifits in both approaches.

The way our class is structured we are just reinforcing what they should be doing at home.  Therefore, the students who don't participate do miss out on projects with their peers, but they don't really "miss" anything if that makes sense.  They can just pop in and out as they choose, though we prefer they participate.

Yes.  It is completely ward-specific.  We have challenges specific to our ward.  The ward that meets in the same building as us are not doing activities either.  We're in the same school board.  Same problem - switching elementary school to online home school are driving parents crazy.  Middle and High School is not as bad - they can be left to do stuff on their own.

My daughter is 6, and I would love he to have that option of peer stuff.

But I"m also at the same time drowning in figuring out life here-- she NEVER stops running and I'm suddenly having to figure out how to teach stuff (and even what to teach).  And as soon as I get my feet under me, something else changes and got to figure everything out again.

I feel you.  This is crazy.  I'm working from home and working FAR more hours than normal.  Fortunately(?) my wife is our of work during this mess so she can pick up the slack with the twins.  She's amazing.

The missionaries have missed or rescheduled meetings, usually not telling us until they are already late.  Is this normal?  It's frustrating, to say the least.  I've been talking to the "chat missionaries", but it's not quite the same.

What is a chat missionary ?

Traditionally, there are missionary you can chat with online, either through messenger or video services (as opposed to in-person).

With today's "normal", all missionaries do that exclusively :)

This.  The Church used to have a dedicated group of online missionaries at the referral center.  Now some missionaries take part as part of their regular duties.  In retrospect, I really preferred this method of learning.
