Yep.  When I was 7, the little girl who lived down the street's dad actually packed his family up and moved there.  He said he was doing it early "so the rest of you will have a place to stay when it happens".  Such a pity - the little girl and I were going to grow up and get married.

You knew Zeniff? Lucky!

Adam-ondi-Ahman did leave a major impression on me.  I highly recommend the trek if you haven't made it already.  The RLDS temple on the other hand has nothing to offer.  I walked in and felt more at peace in a haunted house.

A portion of the church will relocate to Jackson County and rebuild the New Jerusalem, but the whole church body will not go.  If you want to read about it, get a copy of Gerald Lund's book, The Coming Of The Lord.  He has a whole chapter devoted to the topic.  The whole book is worth your time and other than the scriptures is the best book on the topic of the Last Days that I have ever read.

While we are all speculating – I have pondered the possibility that Zion, as established by Enoch and taken, would return for the Millennium.    Likewise, the city of Salem governed by Melchizedek will also return.  These two cities will be the Jerusalem and New Jerusalem or Zion that will be the two places from which Jesus will govern the world.

If this is the case both cities could be “built up” in hours or even minutes and will not require anyone now living on earth to go anywhere.  This would also allow for many to be surprised at how “quickly” things could happen when Jesus returns and establishes his kingdom.  It may be possible that within minutes people of the world were going about things unaware of how different and quickly and completely surprised we all – both infidels and saints will be.  Maybe the reason we are counseled to already be prepared is that when it happens there will not even be seconds to prepare or change anything.

Again, I highly recommend The Coming Of The Lord for this topic.

Yea, stay away from rky.  There are much better places to learn about preparedness and the last days events.

It looks like you would recommend Lund for learning about last days events... what sources do you like for preparedness?  What is on your short-list for a bug-out bag? What's just junk that will weigh one down?

I've done some reading of David Morris' material on surviving in place and he seems to know his stuff, but I have to admit I'm no real expert in this area and could probably be easily wowed.

I was the ward and then stake preparedness specialist for ten years.  This blog link is the lesson I taught all those years:  http://preppercop.blogspot.com/

Peruse that and feel free to contact me with any other questions.

Is that speculating?  I thought I had read that all translated beings/cities (raised to a Terrestrial state) would return to earth during the Millennium since the earth will be Terrestrial.  Am I giving into Mormon Lore?  I don't remember where I read it because it was a LONG time ago.  I'm beginning to doubt a lot of the "deeper doctrines" I learned as a kid because so much of it eventually was revealed to be merely lore.

Thanks. There's a lot there, it'll keep me going for a while so I've bookmarked it to check in and read. I'll be in touch as questions arise.
