Bad experiences after doing Family Search Work

This is a topic that  I haven’t told any one.  I enjoy doing the Family search and sending them to get the work done but lately I been very scare of continuing.  Every time I start doing search seems that my life just gets harder and my life slips upside down.  My life gets harder at the same time I’m doing work.  Have anyone else experience something similar? I’m just curious.  Any comments or support I can appreciate it.  It feels like the dark side is after me.  A lot of time I stop searching but then I feel this pressure to continue.

@Deyra. Hi there! Your experience is disturbing. I know that when I was approved to get my endowments but had not yet received them, my life started to fall apart. Consequently, I arranged to go by myself to the temple instead of waiting for an escort.

I wonder if there are times when Satan realizes that you are onto a good thing and tries to stop you? For example Joseph Smith’s experience of darkness before the First Vision. Hang in there!

Thanks for your response.  That’s exactly how I feel that is Satan trying to stop me. I want to still hang in there and continue doing more family search.   At times is very draining.  But So far I found over 200 deceased family members that needed work done.  I know I can find more.

What sits under @Deyra ‘s desk when she is doing family history. Cool to think that your ancestors are so ready to accept the gospel that Satan has called out his Troops!

Do you pray before you start working? If not, I would suggest that you do, and ask Father to banish the adversary.

I have to pray frequently before, during, and during and after I start working on my family history. Now that I have been called as Temple & Family History Consultant - I have increased my prayers by a lot!!

Before I received my endowment, satan blasted me at every turn. My car blew up, my best friends tires blew out, I got sick -very, very sick. Finally my RS President suggested that when I prayed, that I banished the adversary too. Every time I prayed! It had had me in it's grips for 30 years, and was really mad when I came back into activity. Also had quite the time getting my patriarchal blessing. Car problems on top of car problems as well as health issues. The Patriarch even had serious health problems. Took three months, but we finally pushed through and I got it.

So - pray, banish the evil one. Pray some more. Listen to spiritual music, and if it helps, talk to your ancestors - - believe me, they are there encouraging you.

Thanks so much for your comment.  I never thought of praying and asking for adversary to go.  I will do that next time I log in.  I have gotten to a point that I’m just afraid.  I don’t want to be afraid.  I feel my ancestors very happy and thankful.  Every time I find one the feeling is amazing but then I get hit with so many problems right after it that is freaking me out.  When I stop everything goes back to normal.  Doing this work is part of my patriarchal blessing and I need to continue.  Same thing happened to me when I got my endowments.  Thanks for sharing.

You don't ask the adversary to go, you command the adversary to go, and ask for the Lord's protection and spirit.   I mean, LDS folks don't do much in the way of exorcisms or stuff like that, but we also know in whom we've placed our trust.  No need to be polite with satan.

There is certainly a scriptural pattern to Satan trying to stop good things from happening. But don't worry you are in good company with many of the great prophets of the past!

Quote

And it came to pass that Moses began to afear exceedingly; and as he began to fear, he saw the bitterness of bhell. Nevertheless, ccalling upon God, he received dstrength, and he commanded, saying: Depart from me, Satan, for this one God only will I worship, which is the God of eglory. --Moses 1:20

Of course. Satan will stop at nothing to stop you from rescuing your ancestors. Learn to rebuke him. I do. Always remember he can only slow you down. If he can stop you it is you. You are stronger than he is. Fight back. Be strong. Keep going.

This makes a lot of sense!
