NeuroTypical
My sweet innocent helpless learning-to-walk baby girl, whom I taught to read, is now taking college classes. Why do I have this urge to just go find a random boy and punch him? prisonchaplain, Sunday21, unixknight and 4 others

zil
Is she "away" at college (or living at home)?
NeuroTypical
She's in high school, taking advantage of the school district's partnering with local colleges. So yeah, still at home. We're trying to figure out how to cope with the new $300/mo gas bill getting her there and back. Don't want to push the drivers license. She should pull that. zil

Don't punch my kid. He's in high school too taking college courses. But he drives now so I'm like... may the force be with you. Guest MormonGator
I know you are kidding-but be careful. In my hometown a father got arrested for making threats towards his teenage daughters boyfriend. Apparently the police were not thrilled when this guy (who was a well respected member of the community, very well off) physically threatened the kid. I still remember it like it was yesterday. For the record no, I was not the boyfriend-she was several years older than me. Edited August 27, 2018 by MormonGator

Try realizing that some guy is going to end up being your son-in-law and you may need to depend on him to care for you in your old age - you will not want him to threat you in kind. Guest MormonGator
I'm lucky, I get along great with my FIL-did when @LadyGator and I were dating too. We never had a cross word between each other.

Oh indeed. Mom was from a very large, very church-y family. Descendants of the pioneers, answered the call to Zion. Dad was a drinking cussing swearing a-religious WWII vet. Mom married him because she was a rebel. Dad married her because she would be his fourth marriage and he wanted one of those "submissive Mormon women". Everyone tried hard to make nice. Dad didn't have to try, he was overall a nice guy. He was talking do her father, and said "Theodore, I know you probably don't like me, but one day, you'll offer to lend me your Cadillac so I can drive to the casino in style." Grandpa tried hard to smile. Fast forward 20+ years. Mom is slowly wasting away, bedbound with multiple sclerosis, and mentally ill. Dad is her primary caregiver, and took early retirement to care for her. Theodore does indeed offer his Cadillac, so the man taking care of his daughter can take some time to care for himself. No? I he really loves your daughter then he would understand that the father was not kidding. He will truly and ably tear apart any idiot that would hurt her. The guy that realizes that about you and appreciates it is gonna be a worthy son-in-law. The guy who doesn't realize nor appreciate that will need to elope with your daughter to have a chance at marrying her and treating you badly in your old age. Right? prisonchaplain
@anatess2 You can be right or funny, but not both. You went for accuracy.
