I think my point is going whooosh over your head.

That's pretty easy.  I'm a very short man.  Thank you for reminding me of that fact.  And while you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice all over it?

This is starting to turn into one of those "I can nitpick better than you" exchanges.

Guys, the obvious answer here is that if there's a same sex kiss, then that implies a same sex attraction.  That being the case, then yes a conversation with the Bishop is in order.  I don't know whether that would constitute a confession or not since I'm not qualified to judge the sin factor of that kiss, but the fact that it happened means there are attractions and/or feelings that should be understood and handled appropriately.  That's what the Bishop is there to help with.

I hope that answers your question, @wsmrm196

So Mormons are now not allowed to kiss prior to marriage? Nonsense

Of course that is nonsense.  Good thing I didn't say that.  And neither did my stake president.

WELL...

Back in my day

(which WAS many decades ago, I may be old enough to be someone's grandparent here (or even a great grandparent though they'd have to be pretty young)

Yes...kissing a boy or girl that you were dating was considered not to be the best thing or the best idea.  Those who were chaste would hold off on doing so until at least engaged if not married.  Sure, they did such things in the movies, but the movies also promoted unchaste morality.

Of course, much of what passed for movies 20 years later would have been considered straight up pornography when I was growing up...and now...

Morals have changed drastically since I was young.

Even after I joined the church I was told that you shouldn't kiss your girlfriend or boyfriend, rubs/massages were absolutely not allowed, and deep kissing was breaking the laws of chastity.  The only one I ever kissed romantically was my wife.  It is still that way.

I would advise the same thing to young couples today but alas, I do not think it would be accepted by most of them.  Culture, including Mormon culture, seemed to lose some of that greater morality during the late 60s and early 70s and it has gone downhill since.  Things that would have been unthinkable to watch back then is commonplace today in that even young members of the church watch these things commonly.

Things like that remind me that I feel like I've outlived my culture at times, even if I'm still alive and kicking today.  It shows me just how merciful the Lord is to us that he puts up with this and doesn't strike us all down with destruction.

That said, if it was just one kiss, with how we treat morality today, it is probably something that can be dealt with on one's own.  If it still troubles someone, as everyone else has said, go talk to their Bishop.

Thank you for putting it that way.  Yes, I believe my stake president would have been about your generation (based on what you said about kissing).  He was a very young stake president.  But he was called for a reason.  I may not be part of that generation.  But I certainly appreciate the dedication to morality and chasity that seems to be rare or even absent from today's culture.

Hats off to you.

EDIT:  I guess I don't know how old you are.  But I did some math.  He's probably passed on by now.  Kind of sad to think about that.  He was a good man.

OOOOOOOH! SICK BURRRRRN!

Because, see, you must be ON MEDS! Meaning that you're unwell! Maybe ailing, or who knows, maybe even not mentally stable! See how that clever implication thing works? Oh, man! Totally ROASTED!

"Not taking your meds!" Classic! Like, you know, Vicodin! That's it, you didn't take your Vicodin! Or maybe...LITHIUM! Ha ha ha! You didn't take your lithium! You must be taking mood stabilization drugs, and you didn't, and that's why you posted the irrational thing that you did! Ha ha! Burn on you! Or maybe you didn't take your cocaine! Or your meth! You didn't take your meth! Ha, ha! How stupid that you didn't take your meth! That makes you risible!

Wait. That's not really very funny. Come to think of it, the psychoactive meds jokes aren't very funny, either. Maybe the pain relief ones are kind of funny, but not really the prescription ones. Just the OTC. The NSAIDs. The ibuprofens.

Ha, ha! You didn't take your Tylenol®!

Hey, that's some pretty sophisticated humor right there.

I'll have to ask my tall husband to do that for you.  It would be double insult to injury to get a lemon-juiced paper cut from an even shorter Asian woman.

Most men like to compare *ahem*... but I'd be happy to have an "I'm shorter than you" contest.  But that would take me a bit too far into the virtual world than I care to go.

Truth is: I thought I did address your comment.  But if I completely missed, then I guess it did go right over my head.  It happens.  I don't care.  It seems that I've been misunderstood about 2 out of 3 posts since I've opened an account here.  Since I'm the only constant throughout all of them, I guess I'm not writing clearly.

Mission accomplished.

That's a new word for me.  What, are you the resident sesquipedalian (sp?)  Heck, I can't even spell that word right.

It just made me laugh to myself to say, "That makes you risible!" So I figured if it was good enough for me, it was good enough for everyone else.

Yes, he is.  And don't make me spell that word either.

You've been outed, Vort!  You can quit restraining yourself to 3 syllables now and go super word saiyan to your heart's content.

Italian ridere, "to laugh", past participle riso. As in, Ho riso, "I laughed". Second only to learning to speak English growing up, learning Italian was by far the single best thing I've ever done to learn about the English language.

It just occurred to me that another medication could have been "ephedrine".  What a lost opportunity.
