Emmanuel Goldstein
Did anyone notice that President Oaks seemed irritated when he finished the story of the dog killing the squirrel. Also, does it ever bother anyone here when members do this when the story shared was not meant to cause laughter?
Just_A_Guy
I didn’t note him looking irritated, but I did think it was kind of dark for Conference. By the way, the (very few) times I’ve seen Pres. Oaks outside of conference, he was one of the most energetically good-humored people I’ve ever seen. He adopts a solemn schtick for his sermons, but I’d be surprised if he was that easily miffed. mikbone
Almost everyone would rather watch a catastrophe in slow motion instead of prevent it.
The Folk Prophet
I was just proud of and cheering for the clever dog. Midwest LDS
askandanswer
I'm guessing that this Irish Setter learned his hunting technique from Doctrine and Covenants 25 Yea, he saith unto them: Deceive and lie in wait to catch, that ye may destroy; behold, this is no harm. (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 10:25)
askandanswer
Clearly, the main teaching point of President Oak's talk is that the laying down, barely moving dog catches the squirrel. This is in marked contrast to the early bird catches the worm. So it seems that the change regarding baptism for the children of same sex couples was not the only major policy change this conference. Guest LiterateParakeet
Oh my word...I'm sitting here reading this thread and wondering if I fell asleep in Conference and didn't realize it (I work graveyard, I have an excuse!) because I didn't remember Pres. Oaks speaking at all. Finally I realized that you must be talking about Priesthood Session. Phew....
NeuroTypical
It happens to the best of us sometimes. Oaks: [Poignant story about how doing nothing produced an unfortunate result.] Conferencegoers: "H*ck yeah! Stomp that stupid squirrel! You go squish now!" Oaks: [Facepalm] Edited April 7, 2019 by NeuroTypical mirkwood
mirkwood
I was thinking someone should go kick the dog.
