Third Hour Posted May 2, 2019 Report Share Posted May 2, 2019 In Gary Chapman’s book The Five Love Languages, Chapman clearly defines 5 ways people express and feel love in their lives. These languages have permeated modern culture and most people are at least familiar with the idea, if not the specific languages. Just to recap, the 5 are words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. And thinking about the love languages reminds me of the great commandment as recorded in Matthew 22, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” At first, this commandment sounds relatively easy to fulfill. But how exactly do we love the Lord? It doesn’t seem like the 5 love languages can be directly used to show our love for God. But can we use them in less apparent ways to show love to our Love?
