LeBron James bravely and manfully defends his paycheck from silly things like free speech

I'm willing to admit that American culture is inferior to that of the country's that hosted my missionary experience--at least on the issue of political commentary. For some reason I continue to fail to understand, we look to actors and athletes for economic and political policy wisdom. In Korea they tend to interview...err...cough...professors of major universities. Granted, the experts aren't always right. However, I suspect that they tend to be more right than actors and athletes.  Just sayin' . . . :itwasntme:

You might think I would be one of those people who will agree with James, but if so, you are wrong. I think he's way off base on this one, and most of his political views actually. That said, I can separate the man from his politics. He does amazing things for charity-much more than you and I ever will-and is among the greatest basketball players of all time.

Um...no.

Oh. Well, since I'm a huge sports fan, and since we don't see eye to eye on several other issues, I thought you might be referring to me. No big deal.

This quote made me facepalm pretty hard.

"Yes, we do all have freedom of speech, but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you're not thinking about others and you're only thinking about yourself."

Morey is the only person who was NOT acting out of self-interest in this situation. I have a lot of respect for LBJ, but he's way off base here.
