Pages 137-138 - Perhaps family members could read Mosiah 4:9–12 and identify phrases 
that help build their faith in God. Then they could write down these phrases and 
place them around the home as reminders.

Mosiah 5 to 6:1-2 is rather confusing.  After a sermon by King Benjamin in chapter 5, 5:5
says the people were willing to enter a covenant with God.  5:7 confirms what is
mentioned in verse 5 ("And now, because of the covenant which ye have made ye shall
be called the children of Christ, his sons, and his daughters; for behold, this day he hath
spiritually begotten you; for ye say that your hearts are changed through faith on his name;
therefore, ye are born of him and have become his sons and his daughters".  Then 6:1-2
contradicts 5:5-7, for only little children had entered into a covenant with God.

Can someone clear this up?

If we do away with some of the grammar and other items (some of which were added after translation) it would seem to read more like

And it came to pass there was not one soul except it were little children but who had entered into the covenant.

The wording is confusing.

If we re-arrange it so it is less confusing (as the but is a clarifying item)...

And it came to pass that every soul (not one and but cancel each other out you could say) except it were little children had entered into the covenant.

The inclusion of the words not and but make the reading of it confusing as they cancel each other out.  If we simply take them out it would read as I wrote above

And it came to pass everyone, except little children, entered into the covenant.

So, in essence, only the little children (probably those under the age of 8 I imagine, but that's only conjecture) did not enter into the covenant (probably baptism?).  Everyone else listening seemed to have entered it, or it is indicated they did.

Sure, Pete. To clear this up, you need to learn to read critically. If you do not learn to read critically, you will require handholding to interpret practically every verse of scripture you ever read.

Gale,

How is it that you mess up understanding the clearly written word so badly, and yet claim that all you have to do is read without any other help in order to understand?

My 8 year old was able to read this without anyone having to explain it to him.  And he understood it.  Do you really expect us to believe that you don't understand what is clearly written?  Do you really expect us to believe that you're earnestly seeking the truth? Or are you instead earnestly seeking to purposefully misread things and feign confusion?

None of this is confusing to anyone else, including my 8 year old.  But you are injecting confusion where there was none.  Who brings confusion to a discussion?  The Lord?  Or Satan?  Whom do you serve when you're injecting confusion where there was none before?
