Kanye knocking the Conservative Christian Ball out of the Park

I'm not really a fan of Kanye, and think he's done some pretty questionable things.  However, I hear he might be running for president (though, he's a little late to get on most of the ballots at this point...write in?).

If he does, despite me not really caring for many of his antics, he may be a better choice than Trump OR Biden...for those in my boat at least.

I think I saw that he's eligible to be included as an Independent candidate in all but 7 states, but those ineligible states include Texas and New York.

This is yet again, the unforgiving, cancel-culture left dismissing someone because they aren't perfect.

I'll tell you that I also agree that

  • Kanye has been a really bad example for kids to look up to.
  • He is not the type of person that I want to be President.

But the fact is that by all accounts, he (and perhaps Kim too) have really turned their lives over to Christ.  By all accounts, his conversion appears to be legitimate and sincere.  But even that is not enough for the left.

Dismiss them because of past actions?  What is repentance again?

I'm reminded of the temple recommend scene in the Jack Weyland book Charlie.

Elon Musk expressed support especially because of what you said above.  Most of the people who will say what you said above would have never voted Trump over Biden.  So, it just guarantees they're not voting for Biden either.

Interestingly, the chans are now busy meme-ing "Biden is taking votes away from Kanye, where's BLM?".  This election is starting to become fun again.

I’m happy to welcome Brother West in the temple if a duly ordained common judge of Israel issues him a recommend.

Doesn’t mean I won’t consider his past if he comes begging for my vote.

Besides, I’ve been told in no uncertain terms that a candidate’s personal virtue has nothing—nothing!!!—to do with politics. ;)

It’ll be interesting.  As I understand it Trump’s numbers among blacks have actually been decent (for a Republican), at least in part due to his work on criminal justice reform (which, it’s being alleged, he now repudiates—maybe lamestream media FUD?) and his working with KimYe on some-pardon-or-other (the name of the person pardoned escapes me at the moment).

My gut—which could easily be wrong—is that Candidate West would probably siphon off the blacks who were thinking about voting for Trump, while doing very little damage to Biden.

Time will tell . . .

Absolutely agree.  I was pointing out the fault in the cancel culture's mindset.  It was not a commentary on any other midset.

(Difference being, consider it along with today's behavior and weigh it against other qualities vs. NEVER EVER forgive them because they did something years ago that they have disavowed no matter how much other good they do.)

And, yes, it does have something to do with a person's politics.  In fact, I'm told that we simply CANNOT separate them even when such people accuse others of conflating them.  Wait...conflate...separate...  Which was it we were supposed to do again?

Ahh no.  That's not how this is shaping up.  The Black Vote is currently being pulled by BLM and Antifa on one side and WalkAway and Blexit on the other side.  It is already July.  At this stage of the campaign, with BLM and Antifa decimating the Democrat Party and WalkAway and Blexit forming a powerful Trump coalition, most of the people in the middle are STILL in the middle because they can't vote Republican (creds, culture, family, same thing as why converted people from the Baptist churches don't join the LDS church).  Biden won South Carolina, et. al., because of the centrist Black vote.  These voters didn't vote Biden because they like Biden.  They voted Biden not only because they can't support a socialist, but also because they can't vote for a gay guy.  These type of voters are not going to vote Trump.  But they will vote Kanye.

I know @JohnsonJonesusually has long posts, but this one was pretty short.  Did you not read the rest of it or did you stop at what you quoted?

I'll answer for @Carborendum only because he took too long ;).

He read the whole thing... he addressed that specific sentence in the post to discuss.  That sentence has become some kind of a bone of contention in the Trump era and magnified by 1,000 in the modern Cancel Culture.

Yes, I read that he might think Kanye is the lesser of three evils.  But he still considered him evil, not because he isn't qualified to be President (he's not) but because he did some questionable things in his past.

I don't see the word evil anywhere in his post.  Or even as an implication.  I think it's fair, not uncalled for, to point out people's past choices when they are running for political offices.  It's the only real indicator of what we have of their future actions.  JJ didn't say anything about qualifications either.  Maybe this is why his posts are usually longer, so others don't misinterpret what he says :D

The bolded is exactly my point.

As far as the actual usage of the word "evil" you haven't heard him talk about Trump much, have you?
