Ironhold
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_European_heat_wave Nearly 15,000 people died in France alone due to a combination of factors, including the fact that large swaths of France as a nation typically shut down during August for summer vacation, meaning that few people were around to check on the elderly and that even if someone did find an elderly individual who was in trouble there was no guarantee that any sort of trained medical professionals would be around to treat them. Basically, France rarely got that hot in the summer and so very few people knew what to do. The nation tried to go on as normal, and it led to tragedy.
