I will have to see this film one way or another because I'm something of a minor local celebrity and I know that people will eventually ask me about it. ...But it's a conflict of interest case such that I can't actually do a printed review of it in the paper, and there's no way I can physically stop anyone leaving the screening to explain to them what the film did wrong. I have options for what I'm going to be doing as my review that weekend, so that at least is covered. But I still have this movie to deal with. Is there anywhere we could read your review for the paper?

Despite my best efforts to convince editorial otherwise, my material is presently subscriber-only. https://www.coveleaderpress.com/ This is the flagship newspaper I'm with. And as I noted, any review on my part would be a case of "conflict of interest" and so unless editorial gives me the OK otherwise I couldn't review it for an ostensibly neutral publication. I plan on seeing it, but when it goes on streaming.

Cinergy Cinemas has a premium-tier rewards program where you pay X amount of money each month for an assortment of perks that includes a given number of free tickets each month and a weekly free gift card for the arcade. My renewal should take place right before the movie drops locally, meaning I can burn a "free" ticket and so not directly pay the studio a dime. I was blown away that they had reclining seats-my sister said “Tim, they’ve had those for like 15 years.” That’s how little I go to the movies. Our first fancy leather reclining experience was probably 8-9 years ago. Rare experience because Daddy's such a cheapskate. Now the dollar movie joint has them too, and it's ~$6 for a ticket. Been watching the pre-movie show with Maria Menounos forever. I think "mareemuhmuhmoomoo" was one of my kid's first words. They still give me crap when I get there late and we miss her. Maybe one day you and I will get to go to one of those restaurants with utensils. NeuroTypical

That's not a very high standard. I think Wendy's actually has utensils (and chili and potatoes as well!). The currently have biggie bags (which vary between $5-$9 depending on where you live), so it's even cheaper than those other burger joints! For less than $20 you could go to a restaurant with utensils today! PS: I am not affiliated with Wendy's, and though it may seem like it, I am not actually promoting them...I hope. I'd probably prefer KFC currently over Wendy's. I like KFC better than Popeyes. For Burger joints, I prefer Whataburger. They are not cheap presently either. Ironhold
Spoke with editorial. They understand that it's a conflict of interest situation for me to actually review it even though I'll likely be watching it anyway, and are fine with me playing things by ear as necessary. I'd be interested in hearing it. I had heard that it isn't really about "Mormons" at all. They simply used a widely known aspect of Americana. They didn't want to use JWs because they don't have the "innocent" connotation like LDS missionaries do. And one of the actresses said that she refused to play a "defenseless girl" character. So, I'm curious how they came off in the final film. mordorbund

I think it’ll help the church just by getting the name out there. So many people are clueless as to who we even are. I’ve already had a friend ask me about the church because of the movie. Jedi_Nephite
A true Mormon horror movie would be one where the Bishop spontaneously asks a member to bear their testimony in the middle of Sacrament meeting. Just_A_Guy and LDSGator

As someone with a fear of public speaking, I've taken measures. If this ever happens to me, I have a link on my phone to this. I'll replace Anthony's name with the name of whoever made me talk into a microphone, and just go from there. Jedi_Nephite
