I'm not going to defend Biden, but let's not act like Trump has a single gracious bone in his body.

Calling Nancy Pelosi a "crazed lunatic" is telling the simple truth. Joking about her husband's assault is beyond the pale, though not surprising for Trump.

Depends on the joke.

Not to justify anything...but speaking of beyond the pale.... When I was in high-school, I seem to recall a bout of "dead baby" jokes becoming all the rage. Some of them were hilarious.

As much as I would like to see the hypocrite and Liar-in-Chief crucified (figuratively) for this statement, it's obvious what he meant, and that he wasn't calling for someone to shoot Trump. What he was clearly calling for was for as many people as possible to criticize and find fault with Trump. I doubt that truthfulness of accusation was one of his criteria. But the point is, as disgusting as Joe Biden is, he wasn't calling for Trump's (literal) assassination. This kind of thing is exactly what I hate about conversing with leftists, who seek diligently to make a man an offender for a word. This should be nipped in the bud.

I'm sure he wasn't calling for the literal action but it still goes toward Biden's use of violent rhetoric when it suits him.

Exactly.

Comedy is inherently mean. Generally speaking someone has to be in some form of misery for it to be funny. Like they say, humor is pain+time.

The comment wasn't about Trump so bringing that up is off topic (and no, I don't condone those antics).

You took a quote out of context and incorrectly made it seem like Biden was inciting violence. Meanwhile, Trump consistently called the media "the enemy of the people", and one of his fanboys shot up a media office. No, I'm not blaming Trump for that, but to weakly criticize rhetoric used by Biden is a bit odd and defeatist, considering who his opponent is. I'm no Biden fan, but to call him divisive after four years of Trump is disingenuous. If anything, I wish he'd spit a little *more* fire than he does.

Well, if we're gonna start blaming the other side, we might as well fall on each other like a pack of Ferrengi.   The point to fight about is "who's worse".  My side opens with:

- 2017 attack on Steve Scalise and the congressional republicans: Shooter was a leftie.
- Dude arrested in 2022 outside of Justice Kavanaugh's home, with his black tactical chest rig, tactical knife, Glock, two magazines and ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, a hammer, screwdriver, nail punch, crow bar, pistol light, duct tape: Mad about the overturn of Roe v. Wade.
- This compilation of Democratic leaders urging violence.  Go ahead and watch them all, it ends with Kamala Harris (before she was Veep) joking about murdering Trump, Pence, or Jeff Sessions in an elevator.

Oh yeah - and also Biden's comments at the start of this week (July 8th): "I have one job, and that's to beat Donald Trump. I'm absolutely certain I'm the best person to be able to do that. So, we're done talking about the debate, it's time to put Trump in a bullseye."

Geez, the bodies are still warm!

It's amazing how quickly things move.  I've already heard from the gun ban people talking about now Trump knows what it's like to be a child in school during a shooting.

I've already seen T-shirt designs for sale with what'll be the iconic defiant fist with the flag overhead.

Oh agree. Just grim humor.

Giffords, who founded a gun-control organization, added: "I’m holding former president Trump, and all those affected by today’s indefensible act of violence in my heart. Political violence is un-American and is never acceptable—never."

This sounds a bit odd coming from a leader in a country that was founded on a revolution.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the person that was killed in this horrible incident :(  as well as those who were injured including former President Trump and his family.

This is what we know about the shooter:

1. He was identified as Matthew Crooks (20 years old).

2. A registered Republican.

3. Lived about an hour away from where the shooting took place.

It has been published by the news that some witnesses informed local enforcement about Crooks climbing a roof with a rifle and they couldn't understand why Trump was still speaking and they didn't pull him off the stage.

I appreciate President Biden's comments:

I'm sure his press committee made him do this to make him look better. That sounds bad but it's my opinion.

The media is running with the "registered Republican" thing- but it seems his actions, prior to the assassination attempt, speak a much different story. But I'm sure the press will hyper focus on his registration status which he may have done to simply vote against Trump in the primary.

Was this corroborated by multiple people? So far, I've only seen this claim made by a guy that looks like a MAGA Chester Cheetah. I'm not saying he's lying, but I'm also not just taking his word for it.

I feel awful for the victims first and foremost, but I also feel worried for my left leaning friends. Republicans want vengeance, and I have grave fears that they’ll have take it out on people on who didn’t do anything.

He was also wearing a Grunt Style shirt, which is popular among far right 2A enthusiasts. Could be misdirection, but on the surface this looks like "friendly fire". I haven't been able to find anything seemingly credible about his actions or ideology prior to yesterday. Apparently there are several fake social media accounts popping up with his name and likeness trying to paint him as a lifelong Democrat.

What do you mean by his prior actions? I just read that he donated $15 to a liberal group when he was 17.  Based on that age, it looks like his mom (a registered Democrat) probably made the donation on his behalf? The reason I say this is because as soon as he turned 18, he registered as a Republican. Having said that, something obviously went very, very wrong. This guy was an honor student, got awards in mathematics and science and at some point became radicalized or just dealing with some serious mental issues. I suppose we will know more in the following days.

There are videos online showing the shooter (alive) on top of the roof for a few minutes. Maybe those who are experts or knowledgeable about security can tell us if it is normal procedure to have that building without security. The shooter didn't have any problem climbing it.
