-You’ll notice that there are a lot of “presidencies” in our faith. That’s on purpose. In an effort to better understand the will of God in any given situation, it can be helpful to pray and council together as a presidency. More on this principle here: https://bit.ly/3dzw9eQ
-Bishops try very hard to extend a calling to each member of the ward, if possible. At the very least, via the Elders Quorum or the Relief Society, every member should be given a “ministering” assignment — an opportunity to become friends with and provide support to other members of the ward. It’s a way to make sure everyone in the ward is doing OK, and a way to provide help to those who may be struggling for whatever reason.
