Elder Neal A. Maxwell (1926-2004) served as a General Authority for over 30 years. During that time, he served as an assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (1974-1976); a member of the Presidency of the First Quorum of Seventy (1976-1981); and as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (1981-2004).
