In this episode, Dave talks about Article of faith #4 and #5 of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church). Article #4 states, “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Dave talks about these important elements of Christ’s gospel, and also touches on the importance of Priesthood authority when it comes to sacred ordinances (such as baptism). He presents this belief in terms of the fifth Article of Faith, which states, “We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.”
