Descriptions:
Are there errors in the Bible? The short answer is, “yes.” That said, when it comes to some passages, some versions of the Bible are more correct than others. … It can get a bit complicated. In this episode, Dave looks at one rather weighty example of this.
“Adding and Taking Away ‘Without a Cause’ in Matthew 22,” by Daniel K. Judd and Allen W. Stoddard (BYU Studies): https://bit.ly/3l9tLzz
“Jesus on Anger: The Text of Matthew 5:22a Revisited,” by David Alan Black: https://bit.ly/376Utk2
Notes:
— It’s probably worth noting that many modern Bibles that omit “without a cause” will mention in the footnotes that there are some versions of the Bible that do include the phrase (or its functional equivalent). But it still leaves the question open, which version of the verse should I understand to be God’s word and will?
