Untraditional Design for New Temple Released
On January 13, 2025, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints revealed an exciting preview of the exterior design of the future Brussels Belgium Temple. What makes this announcement special is its untraditional approach, which fits the city’s modern, urban context.
A temple that breaks the mold: Brussels, Belgium
For the first time, the city of Brussels will have a temple, located in an existing building at 52 Avenue des Arts.

President Russell M. Nelson announced this temple during the April 2021 general conference, stating:
“We are building now for the future! We want to bring the house of the Lord even closer to our members, so that they have the sacred privilege of attending the temple as often as their circumstances allow.”
In Belgium, home to nearly 6,700 Latter-day Saints, many members are second-, third– and even fourth-generation members. This House of the Lord will be a significant spiritual center for those who have kept their faith alive over the years.
Other developments: The Nairobi Kenya Temple
In the same press release, details were shared about the progress of the Nairobi Kenya Temple. This temple also stands out for its historical and spiritual significance.
The open house will begin on April 17, 2025, and will run until May 3, excluding Sundays, offering visitors of all faiths the opportunity to tour its interior and feel the peace that emanates from this sacred place.

Elder Ulises Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at its dedication on May 18, 2025. This temple symbolizes the remarkable growth of the Church in Africa, where Kenya is now home to more than 19,000 members organized in nearly 70 congregations.
The purpose of temples
Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are considered “the house of the Lord” and represent the most sacred place of worship on earth. Unlike chapels open to the public, temples are dedicated to sacred ceremonies such as eternal marriages and proxy baptisms for deceased ancestors.
The Brussels Temple, with its innovative design, and the Nairobi Temple, with its profound symbolism, are reminders of God’s love for all of His children. Each temple is a beacon of hope and an invitation to draw closer to the Lord.
If you have the opportunity to attend an open house at a temple near you, don’t hesitate to do so. These events offer a unique experience to learn more about the faith and feel the serenity that can only be found in the house of the Lord.
