Let Your Light Shine: Finding God’s Message at the Temple Grounds
After receiving his patriarchal blessing, a man accepted his bishop’s challenge to sit outside the temple grounds. In the southwest corner, beneath a large mulberry tree, he spent time praying and meditating.
One day, overwhelmed with emotion, he prayed: “Heavenly Father, I don’t want to lose my light. I’m not like everyone else.” As he stood to leave, he noticed papers scattered on the grass—they hadn’t been there before. Picking them up, he planned to return them to the Visitors’ Center.
Then came a gentle prompting: “Turn that one over.”
On the back, it read:
“Let your light shine.”
It was a clear message from God—he didn’t need to change who he was. Through the love of Christ and His Atonement, he realized he could be true to himself and still walk His path.
