At the Utah Coalition Against Pornography’s 14th annual conference on March 12, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland discussed the dangers of pornography.

The conference was held just days after the close of the 2016 Utah Legislation Session, where Utah lawmakers passed a resolution declaring pornography to be a public health crisis.

KSL quotes Holland saying,

Society must see this evil like the epidemic it is. This ought to be seen like a public health crisis, like a war, like an infectious fatal epidemic, like a moral plague on the body politic that is maiming the lives of our citizens.

Holland explained that pornography is like a war, and that people from every faith should unite and fight against it together.

Deseret News quotes Holland, saying, “I’ll tell you that pornography is steadily, inexorably, unendingly, that there is more of it, that it’s easier for everyone, including children, to access, and that it continues to rend the very moral fabric of our society whether that be the family, or the community, or the very state or the nation. That is because in every case, it rends the moral fabric of the individual.”

During his speech at the conference, the Latter-day Saint apostle urged individuals to follow the FAST method when it comes to pornography: Flee from it, Ask for help to overcome it, Strive consistently to be clean from it, and Triumph over it, or believe that victory is possible.
