The Heavy Load We Carry: How Jesus Christ Can Lighten Our Burdens
Have you ever been carrying a heavy load, thinking you can handle it alone, only to realize later that help was available all along? A friend once shared a story about a man at the grocery store holding a stack of heavy boxes. Standing in line, a stranger offered, “Do you want me to get you a cart?” The man declined, thinking he could manage. As he struggled to hold the boxes, he regretted not accepting the offer. “I really don’t know why I didn’t just take the cart,” he thought.
This story reflects how we often carry burdens in life, thinking we can do it all ourselves, even when help is right in front of us. Jesus Christ offers to lighten our load, just as the stranger offered the cart. But like the man in the story, we sometimes refuse His help, believing we should handle it on our own.
In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites us to come to Him with our burdens: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus is always ready to help us carry our struggles, but we must be willing to accept His offer.
We don’t have to carry life’s burdens alone. Jesus is standing right there, offering help. Will you accept His love and support today?
