Where Are Your Treasures?
“One of my greatest regrets in life happened during the summer of my sophomore year in high school. I had a 9-year-old brother at the time who was absolutely obsessed with Minecraft. Like every single 9-year-old brother ever is. Every single day he would ask me, ‘Hey Caden do you want to come play Minecraft with me?’
Now I didn’t mean to be mean or anything, but I was just so busy. I was trying to pursue some sports, I was trying to do extracurriculars, and also get in time with friends. I kind of blew him off every single day.
Now the summer eventually came to an end like it always does. One day I was going to throw something away in the garbage when a notebook caught my eye. I picked it up and it belonged to my younger brother. In it was a log/a to-do list for every single day of the summer and there was only one item on it every day. It was ‘play Minecraft with Caden’ and every day it was crossed out.
That broke my heart. I mean it still breaks my heart even when I talk about it… ”
