Descriptions:
K, sorry about the first 30 seconds. Sometimes Justin likes to be extra awkward. Haha. ANYWAY, missions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (incorrectly known as the Mormon Church or LDS Church) have changed A LOT over time. In this episode, we talk about the changes that have already occurred, the changes that are currently occurring and perhaps even our speculations on future changes (**hint** starting at 7:46) 😬
A few changes have been the age of missionaries — currently set at age 19 for women and 18 for men, the ability to call families once a week, the change in dress for sister missionaries, the change in areas for proselytization, and the length at which missions are served.
For those of you new to the Church (or new to Mormonism), missionaries are typically comprised of young people ages 18-26 who go to different areas of the world to share the gospel with those in their assigned area. Missionaries and their families will pay for the missionary’s mission which typically lasts somewhere between 18-24 months. Until recently, missionaries were only allowed to personally call their families twice per year. Now, missionaries are allowed to call their families once per week during their preparation day.
