Calvin Newby diagnosed with liposarcoma, a rare cancer of the connective tissues, completed his goal of visiting 100 LDS temples in his lifetime.

From the time he was diagnosed in 2010 to 2015, Newby underwent four major surgeries, one lung biopsy, one lung ablation (surgery), two rounds of radiation, and three months of chemotherapy. However, this did not deter Newby from living his life to the fullest, Newby said,

I’m not dying of cancer; I’m living with cancer.

In that time of physical hardship, Newby went sky-diving, mountain climbing, rode a mechanical bull named Fu Man Chu, reconnected with a lost friend of over 24 years and traveled all over the world visiting temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

As an active member, Newby loved the spirit of peace that he felt in the Lord’s temples. So he created a goal to visit 100 temples, long before he was diagnosed with cancer, however the onset of his cancer created an urgency for him to accomplish this goal. Newby visited 100 temples with his wife of 35 years, Joan. Below is a list of the temples he visited, starting in 2010:
