A Life-Changing Moment with the Book of Mormon
As a freshman in high school, Scott was given an assignment by his teacher: “Have these to me by tomorrow, and I won’t fail you.” Feeling overwhelmed, he offered a quick prayer: “Heavenly Father, I got a lot to do, and I gotta get it done tonight.” With that, he opened the Book of Mormon, not expecting much — just hoping to get through the assignment.
But as he read, something unexpected happened. He began to feel something powerful. For the first time, he wasn’t just reading — he was connecting with the words. The task turned into something far more meaningful.
Excited, Scott rushed home to tell his brother. With a big smile, he shared how he felt, and his brother responded, “Scott, you’re feeling the spirit!” It was a moment of clarity. All those times he had heard others say they “felt the spirit” suddenly made sense.
Worried about losing that feeling, Scott asked his brother what to do. His brother simply replied, “You have to keep reading, again and again.” That night, Scott discovered a love for the Book of Mormon and a connection to something he had never experienced before.
