“One of the first miracles Jesus performs in the Gospel of Mark is the cleansing of the Leper, but I’ll bet you’ve never heard the story of what happens to the Leper afterwards. In Mark chapter 1 when Jesus healed the Leper, He basically gave this man his life back after being physically, spiritually, ritually cut off from society. Then Jesus told this man to go to the priest at the temple to be ritually cleansed and we as the readers never see that Leper again.
But that day at the temple must have been, for the Leper a pretty profound, unforgettable experience. Leviticus 14 actually tells us exactly what those cleansing rituals would have looked like but it can be hard to visualize if you’re not familiar with the ancient temple and its ceremonies.
