You Don’t Need to Be an Expert to Share the Gospel

Many people hesitate to share the gospel because they feel they need to have all the answers or be experts in doctrine. But here’s the truth: You don’t need to know everything to share the gospel. If you know enough to follow Jesus, you know enough to invite others to do the same.

In Doctrine and Covenants 30:5, the Lord simply says, “…open your mouth to declare my gospel.” He doesn’t ask for perfection or deep theological knowledge—just a willingness to speak up and share what you know.

Doctrine and Covenants 35:13 reminds us that God often uses the unlearned to carry out His work. The apostles themselves were ordinary men, not scholars, yet they spread the gospel to the world. You don’t need to be an expert; you just need to be willing to serve.

Sharing the gospel is about sharing your personal testimony. When you invite others to follow Christ, you are sharing your own experience and how His teachings have blessed your life.
