Dear LDS Congregants,
Please accept this post as a sincere apology for past behaviors by me on the internet in relation to your religious beliefs. I have in the past attacked the beliefs and doctrines of the LDS church in internet forums and chat rooms. I did not engage in numerous attacks, as they can be counted on one hand, but I did espouse hatred and ignorance, and for those actions I am truly regretful. As it says in the Book of Mormon, God is no respecter of persons, and for me to espouse beliefs that I think are more worthy than Mormon beliefs is tantamount to spiritual heresy, and shows my ignorance regarding the true Loving Father of all people.
I have grown as a man and have come to the conclusion that any spiritual journey that seeks to return love to the world is worthwhile and righteous. Therefore, any efforts along those lines are worthy of respect and honor, and that is what I now give to the LDS faith. It is easy to see in this world that we live on, that God is for the most part a mystery, and that it will take a long time to understand and comprehend our loving Father. I dare say none of us will have the complete picture before we leave this material world. I truly believe that the journey just begins at that point, and that our understanding will still be infantile at the beginning of the eternal journey.
I believe that Jesus gave us the ultimate tool for testing the many religious theories and doctrines in this world. His admonition to love the Lord God with all our hearts, souls and minds, and to love our neighbors as ourselves is the rock and foundation upon which all spiritual truths lie. Therefore, my spiritual goals in this life revolve around this statement of truth, and although I have not attained anything close to this ideal, I press on toward this goal with a daily walk with the Lord. Accordingly, any truths espoused about our Loving Father are useful on this world of sin and rebellion. I truly believe that all God’s children will reunite with the Father in due time, and that our Loving Father wants nothing but the best for His children.
Again, I apologize for the ignorance and hatred that has been espoused by me in the past (years ago), and hope that this apology hits the mark and causes any healing for stuff I’ve said, and for stuff other ignorant people have said as well.
Peace and God’s Blessings for all.
Rev. John
