  1. Hansel, I share the same belief to some degree. In my searching I found where the church has authorized people in certain parts of the world to observe the sabath on different days. I think isreal was one area. I think the scripture that says something to the affect of "the sabath was made for man and not man for the sabath" fits well here.
  2. Thanks. I havent found exactly what Iwas looking for but there are teachings in the book "We Believe"that will suffice.
  3. I tried that but all I could come up with were talks on keeping the sabath holy. Maybe I am not using the right key words. I seem to remember a talk given by elder oaks on this subject not long ago but am unable to find it. I could be wrong though.
  4. I am certain this information is on the site somewhere but my search foo is weak. I need an article (hopefully written by one of the 12 or first presidency) on why we worship on sunday. My mother is seventh day advent. but is asking some questions which lead me to believe a door may be opening. I know we worship on sunday but I am not able to convey my knowledge in a way that is palatable to other faiths. Thanks a million
  5. I agree completely however the radios that were purchased were not portable at all.
  6. I just had a sit down with our stake pres. I asked him about our Hamm radio program and found out that church head quarters has stated that we are NOT to install comms in the buildings.
  7. Piper, I can only speak for our stake but am sure others had the same thing but were sent a ham radio which I was told every ward would get. We assigned a new calling as operator who would be responsible for getting fcc cert. etc. It was my understanding this was to be a church wide program but have not verified that. I think the program got scrapped due in part to the fact that the radio they provided would be worthless without power not to mention the repeaters must have power. If things got so bad as to require these radios they would likely be useless anyway. Communications are Hugely important in my way of thinking and it would behove our members to look into the matter. I am not a hamm guy but I think there are some radios that would fit the bill but not sure on the cost. If we are not going to have a comms plan then we need to have an air tight emergency plan for each ward and that plan needs to be known by others well outside their area. You know as well as I do though that there are only a hand full of members willing to even give this stuff any regard whatsoever. Best regards
