I think the proof is the problem more than anything for me. I have been reading a lot about the Mormon faith and it seems that there has never been any proof of anything that the Book of Mormon discussed. Although I appreciate the concept and have truly had a desire to find any proof of things that occurred, such as with Joseph Smith, which I have found none to date except what people have handed down over the years, which unfortunately is not very reliable.
The problem Christians have with the Mormon faith is the lack of proof. There is no proof of the tablets that Joseph Smith found. The church is very secretive about some things, such as the Celestial Chapel (I may have said that wrong).. Unfortunately, I have read so many frightening things about Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and atrocities they committed against those who weren't Mormon and even some Mormons. I also believe that God is for the whole world and everything about him should be shared. There should never be any secrets. While I have read the Book of Mormon, if, after searching through, I decide to change to the LDS faith, there will be still always be questions. I think God wants us to become part of a faith based family, but I don't think he wants us to just give ourselves over totally and believe all that is said. The Bible is my main book of use. I don't think the Book of Mormon will ever take its place for me.
Thank you for your response.
