  1. I think the proof is the problem more than anything for me. I have been reading a lot about the Mormon faith and it seems that there has never been any proof of anything that the Book of Mormon discussed. Although I appreciate the concept and have truly had a desire to find any proof of things that occurred, such as with Joseph Smith, which I have found none to date except what people have handed down over the years, which unfortunately is not very reliable. The problem Christians have with the Mormon faith is the lack of proof. There is no proof of the tablets that Joseph Smith found. The church is very secretive about some things, such as the Celestial Chapel (I may have said that wrong).. Unfortunately, I have read so many frightening things about Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and atrocities they committed against those who weren't Mormon and even some Mormons. I also believe that God is for the whole world and everything about him should be shared. There should never be any secrets. While I have read the Book of Mormon, if, after searching through, I decide to change to the LDS faith, there will be still always be questions. I think God wants us to become part of a faith based family, but I don't think he wants us to just give ourselves over totally and believe all that is said. The Bible is my main book of use. I don't think the Book of Mormon will ever take its place for me. Thank you for your response.
  2. Thank you both. I will read before I drop anymore questions on you. I appreciate it all.
  3. Thank you. I don't know why there is so much confusion among people about the Mormon faith. Can you please tell me what is the basic difference between Mormons and say... Catholics, or Baptist. I consider all but the middle-eastern religions to be Christian? Oh and thank you.
  4. Even though I have read the Book of Mormon, as I have read the Bible as well, I am a little confused (which is pretty par for me).. What exactly is the difference in being a Christian and a Mormon. I don't see much difference. I have had some say Mormons don't believe God is "God" and that his son was only a prophet and a good man. Is this correct?
  5. Well, if I ask a question that is not honest it would only be because it is something that has been pointed out to me or I have read. That is why I want to ask questions.. to find out more about this faith. So forgive me and feel free to correct me if I am wrong in what I ask.
  6. I am a Christian. I am new to this. It has been about a year now. I read the bible daily and met someone online a while back who is a Mormon. We started having discussions. I have read the Book of Mormon. Some of it I get and some of it I don't. I am now reading a book about Joseph Smith. I would like to ask questions if appropriate on this site. Thanks.
