I was never really active as a youngster even though I grew up in Utah. My mom took my brother and I to church for a few years and then became inactive herself. I became active in young women and then when I moved to Canada I became inactive again. Not for lack of trying by my RS president or bishop in one of my wards - they always called or came to visit. When my husband and I came back to the US - I had wonderful VT's although looking back they never invited me to any of the RS enrichment nights or even to church which probably would have got me active somewhat (I'm very much a introvert in person so need a little prodding in attending places with large amount of people that I don't know). We ended up moving out of that ward and into the ward we are now in - which took someone 5 years to ever notice that I was here (my husband is not a member). A home teacher started coming in and that lasted for a year. Then last December (1 - 1 1/2 years after the home teacher stopped coming or calling) my son started asking questions that I couldn't answer due to my inactivity...so I told him that I'd start taking him to church. That's when I started getting VT's, the RS president came to meet with me, the home teacher started coming again, the bishop met me, etc. Anyway, long story short - I am active again and will be set apart this coming Sunday for the Enrichment Committee calling. flip: I'm very excited as I love anything to do with crafts and food! My son decided all on his own that he was going to be baptized and continues to attend church with me. I have even started bringing my daughter who absolutely loves primary and would love to go to church every day if she could.
I'm looking forward to getting to know new people and meeting new friends on here.
