  1. FYI, we have a boy and a girl. We would have loved more but it's been 10 years since our youngest was born so it looks like it won't happen.
  2. The video is for sure "Joseph Smith the Prophet of the Restoration" based on the fact the my daughter says it is the video she saw in SLC and that in the start of the video as a steam boat is going down the Mississippi the title says "Joseph Smith the Prophet of the Restoration" I know piracy is deal with the using copyrighted materials in a manner that the copyright holder did not approve. And for Hollywood movies that deals with a person or persons not paying to see or own a movie. Now, since the Church does not create material to generate a profit but to teach the gospel and Church History and they only sell the movies they create at a price to cover their cost -- does this really constitute piracy?
  3. My 12 y/o daughter just came back from a month long church history vacation with her grandparents. One of things she told us about was the movie she saw in Salt Lake called "Joseph Smith the Prophet of the Restoration." I did a search to see if it was available for purchase yet but did not see it listed on the Distribution Centers Website. I then did another search and found it available over the bit torrent network (not a cam'ed copy but a dvd quality copy). Now, my wife and daughter are saying that downloading a church video is even worse than downloading a Hollywood movie, any thoughts? Mitch
  4. Forgive me if this has been covered in the forums before, but I am not getting any results for anything I search for. I remember as a teenager reading the History of the Church, you know the big blue hard covered books and there was like 15 or 16 books in the set, and I seem to remember reading that Joseph Smith, along with a lot of the other church leaders, belonged to the Free Mason organization. Now, when ever I mention this to any other members most of the say that a Church Leader would never belong to such an evil organization. So, am I just imagining that the Church History books said this. Now, I'm not looking for or want a discussion on whether the Temple Ceremony was stolen from the masons (that could be a different topic) but just for whether Joseph Smith was a mason. Thanks
  5. Thank you everyone for your help. This is exactly the info I was looking for. I personally believe that the reason my father-in-law gets so defensive when ever I mention this statement is because he had 8 kids and never had enough to support them all and he might think I am being judgmental, which I am not, I'm just trying to give him some reasoning on why none of his 8 kids have decided to have large families. Mitch
  6. Hi everyone, I am hoping someone can help me because despite a lot of research I can not find what I am looking for. A number of years back I remember reading in the ensign, I don't remember if it was a conference talk or a regular article, one of the prophets (or quorm of the twelve) said they went to visit a daughter/granddaughter in the hospital after their latest child was born and the daughter/granddaughter asked if they could stop having kids. The reply was something along the lines of "How many children you have is between you, your husband and the Lord. And should be depend on how many you can handle physically, mentally, and financially." My main interest in finding this article is to prove to my father-in-law that it exists. He says that a prophet of the Lord would never bring finances into how many children a couple should have because "if you run out of money the church will make up the difference", whereas I feel that the church teaches us that we should be able to take care of our own and if for some unforseen circumstance we can't, and no other family members are able to help then the Church will provide some assistance. thanks
