I know sign language. And have given assistance when the need arises . I love using the skills I learned in sign language. I no longer am worried with the original post that I started here but rather,I want to ask the question...."Who are you?" I was judged with vicious accusations and yet no one asked me questions before spewing their venom against me. As I said in a earlier post,My intentions were not to hurt anyone but to get answers to questions I had. I am so happy that the True Church is being taught to these members. That is the way it should be and is the Lords plan. What I am NOT happy about is how I was attacked on this forum for asking questions that I wanted answers to. This will be the last time I post on here (unless someone makes my "blood boil") And to think, I wanted some spiritual understanding on this issue but have quickly found out,maybe I made a mistake. Thank You for the love and understanding you have shown to me.

It goes on to say that it is "easy" to read from them that my thoughts are rooted in bigotry or elitism. Wow!

I want to thank everyone for their responses. If my original post hurt anyone or made some folks "blood boil" that was not my intention. The "aiding and abetting" question was actually posed to me by a non-member and I wanted clarification on that.What I thought were questions that I wanted answers to because of my own ignorance and have seemed to turn into a free-for-all on my character. I will have you know,on a daily basis I have all different races of people in my home and welcome them with open arms. My sons and I have friends that are Asian, Hispanic and African American. I wonder how many of you that are so quick to judge me can say this. My dilemma was the distraction in meetings which could have been answered with "move to the front", as a wise poster suggested,and I will do. I hope anyone else that comes to this forum in the future with questions that may be bothering them and need patience,understanding and love doesn't get the same treatment that I have. My questions could have been answered simply by someone saying "It is not aiding and abetting because.......", But instead I was called a bigot,racist,etc. Not at all what I expected. To those of you that had legitimate answers to my questions I so appreciate it and have taken it to heart and will pray about it.

I am not angry at the services provided to them I am frustrated by not being able to hear the lesson at times. Losing out on parts of the lesson. There hasn't been in depth conversations about this with others but there have been comments made about it. I don't think there will be a mass exodus out of the ward because of this, I am just trying to get some help here. I am starting to feel like whats the point of going if I am distracted all the time. After reading some comments on this thread I am quite frankly afraid to go to my Bishop now.

My best friend is from Hawaii. She is Samoan and I love her so much. I also have friends of Hispanic decent. So attacking my character by saying I have a problem with people of Hispanic descent is not only uncalled for but just plain mean. You don't know me and have no right to say such things about me. I can see the brotherly love coming from this forum. Attacking me for what you THINK you know about me.

"come into a ward where they are having difficulty understanding and feeling that they aren't wanted or welcome there because of the language they speak." The ward and myself have never made them feel unwelcome. That is a pretty nasty conclusion to come to.

How about a member that is contemplating not going because they are not getting anything out of the lessons because of the distraction? I am on the verge of not going anymore. I am not able to focus on the lessons and I must say, I am not the only one in my ward that feels this way. A number of sisters have made comments about this.

I have my own beliefs about the out of control illegal population crossing our borders on a daily basis. My stand on this is if we have Spanish translators in church and a family moves into the ward and only speaks Russian,lets say,do we also get them a interpreter or anyone else that doesn't speak English? When Elders go to the MTC to learn different languages because they are going to foreign country's it does not take them "years and years". I know this is with the Lords help but why can't the Elders just have interpreters like the people who come here and after being here for years still not know how to carry on a conversation in English? It is very distracting and if you have never had this go on in your church meetings you will not know what I am talking about.

How can you be a legal immigrant and yet not be a U.S citizen. Just asking because I thought to be a legal citizen,you had to be a U.S citizen. Now I am confused.

I just found this forum and I am so glad I did. I really need some input on a problem I am having. I have been a member of the church all my life although I have been inactive at times. I have recently started going back again and something is bothering me that is going on in my ward. Not too long after I started back,the church started integrating the Spanish speaking ward with ours. When I go to Sunday school and Relief Society it is very distracting when the interpreters speak in Spanish, to the point I lose focus on the lesson. My question is, Is the church aiding and abetting criminal behavior by doing this? If the Spanish speaking people had come here the legal way, they would know how to speak English because that is required when you become a U.S citizen. Now I am starting to wonder if they are here illegally. The Lord and the Prophets have said we are to obey the laws of the land. I have been bothered by this for weeks now and have not discussed this with anyone for fear I will be considered a racist,which I am not. Any advise on the issue would be very helpful.
