  1. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone- I feel right at home already. :)
  2. It's just a reference to the kind of situation Jesus had to contend with. I probably should have said 'Personally, I like to avoid those pharisee-types who would accuse even Jesus of crimes against God'- I was just being a bit fancy.
  3. This is exactly my mindset. To be honest I'm already rather enlightened (thanks in part to a running commentary of voices). For me, studying Jesus' speeches is kindof a formality as I'm already well acquainted with his ghost, but I'm sure it'll still be worth it. I can imagine Jesus shedding a tear for mankind- he allowed himself to develop great pity for his fellow man which is rare amongst the spiritually enlightened. Personally, I've discovered a new freedom by welcoming him into my life and accepting him as my savior. Dark Ages spirit turned me away from Jesus in the beginning which was a real pity, but now I'm truly his student. :)
  4. I must say, having attended meetings of various other denominations, I can say that none are graced regularly by the pure spirit witnessed at Mormon meetings. This gift, borne by the Restoration, cannot achieve it's full splendor under quiet conditions. Therefore, don't be afraid to talk, laugh, cough etc during a meeting. Prayer may help too as will spiritually veracious testimony, but if the spirit still refuses to dance don't worry, it's God's will! Rest assured there are lots of good reasons for it to disappear from view now and then. In any case, only a very greedy child expects to receive treats all the time. :)
  5. I'm not quite sure that I understand you. Personally, I like to avoid those pharisee-types who would accuse even perfectly anointed evangelists of crimes against God.
  6. Hi, I'm a 29 year old guy living in Sydney, Australia. I visit my local Mormon chapel now and then for worship but I'm not a bona fide member of the LDS Church. I believe that the Book of Mormon contains the divine genius of Christ and that the Restoration has essentially provided us with the complete, classical form of Christianity. I've been through university and earned two undergraduate degrees, a BA in philosophy and an LLB. I've read and enjoyed a lot of tragic philosophy (such as Nietzsche, Deleuze, Foucault) as well as a number of fictional classics (including Hesse, Dostoevsky and Frank Herbert). But I've become increasingly drawn to Jesus recently as I understand more fully the best solution to the spiritual problems I seek to overcome. I look forward to expressing my beliefs here at LDS.NET, hopefully we can even learn a thing or two from each other? :)
  7. It's my belief that one can expect a level of glory equivalent to how well one knows the Lord. Personally, I've decided to closely study the full Gospel of Jesus Christ in the hope that I may come to know Him well enough to adopt even His most subtle ways and so enter fully into the feelings of the eternally divine Father, thus bearing greatest witness to the light of the most glorious kingdom. I firmly believe that such a will is the essence of true Christianity, and I'm sure the prophet would agree. PS. I look forward to being involved with your online community. I do occasionally visit my local Mormon chapel but that's much more for worship than for the type of discussion and inquiry I'm looking to make here.
