  1. This is nothing unusual either. I've been visting many churches and I'm sorry to say, it hasn't been fun. I believe that the root of all these problems is Satan has stolen part of the Gospel. Satan's greatest weapon has been taking "repentence" away from the Gospel, which has made the church think that they have a liscense to sin. If I took a survey of 100 random churches I think at least 95 of them would dare not use the word "repent". That is the problem - a total lack of desire to be holy and obey Yahushua Messiah's teachings.

I will pray for your church, and "have" been praying for your church. Let's pray for "the" church as a whole as well. I found this thread because I was looking for a prayer forum and wanted to request prayer for the church as a whole. I'll just join in with you in prayer right here then.

Prayer is great, and I'll never stop praying for things like this but what is going to happen is going to happen. I mean, it would be nice if we could rewrite the book of Revelation but it's not possible. God forsaw the days were living in and simply told us about it.

Crying out to God and drawing near to him is extremely critical right now. Don't let the things around you affect your relationship with God. As you know, what's going on is very contagious.

    Be Blessed Sister Lisa,

Non-Denominational Disciple of Yahushua the Messiah

  2. Wow! Well since I know your not reading my mind I have to conclude that God is with you, since this is what consumed my thoughts yesterday and this morning, before I even read this. You can't teach any better than that. Thank You.

  3. If you don't mind me asking (and I really don't mean to go off on a tanget, but...) what do you mean by "Seventh Day Sabbath"? I'm not familiar with that term. :)

When the sun goes down on Friday night till the sun goes down Saturday night is what I call the Sabbath Day and I honor it with all of my heart. It is the Fourth Commandment of the ten that God said would never change. It's a day that I like to plan ahead and think of something special to do with my Father. It's not a legalistic thing and there is no set agenda but normally I like to read scripture from the book of Genesis as well as Exodus and Dueteronomy. My primary focus though is crying out to God for a deeper revelation of the Lamb. I want to understand just how important his death... and ressurection is to our salvation. I cry out to God for these things as well as others. It's the day that I reflect on life and give God all the praise and worship He is so worthy of.

But I'm not extremely legalistic about it and will also gather on Sunday with other believers from different denominations. I think working on this day can also be justified as long as I give to God's Kingdom the exact amount of the gross pay. So, it's more about the honoring of God and His Holy Sabbath Day, rather than being all wrapped up with the legalistic issues.

  4. And about the thing to wear. Don't worry about it. Just try to look presentable - that is, clean clothes - you know, like something you would wear to the office. You might feel a little awkward because most men wear white shirt with a suit and tie. Most women wear long skirts. So, you might stand out a bit if you're wearing something that's not "normal" - but as long as you're ok with being different, then everything should be good!

Also, don't feel pressured to join or be baptized or even get missionaries to come visit. Do it if you want to for your own personal spiritual inquiries - not because somebody else said you should...

Also, there would be lots of lessons and such that you might find wierd or crazy or whatever - just remember, these are things that ward's membership believes in and you don't have to believe in it too.

    HAVE FUN!

Sounds good. I think I may be able to find something appropriate to wear.

The main thing to me is the fellowship. I'm not as concerned about the teachings or lessons or anything else, as much as I am about just getting to know the Mormons and how they conduct thier personal lives.

    - Away from church, do you fit right in with the world and like the same things the world likes? What kinds of music do you listen to? Do you love to praise and worship our God, or do you rather worldly music? What kind of entertainment do you like?

    - What is your prayer life like away from church? Do you gather at each others homes or wherever to pray on a regular basis, and for fellowship as well?

  5. So I am about to visit the Mormon church here in Boise, I hope. I just arrived here yesterday so I haven't yet but look forward to it. What I'm wondering right now is:

What if I don't have formal clothing to wear?

What if I have a few differences in theology? Nothing serious but for example, I will allways honor the Seventh Day Sabbath. Keep in mind I will never try and persuade others with Seventh Day Sabbath observence or anything else for that matter but what do you think my experience will be in your fellowship. That may be the only thing accually, since I can't think of anything else. I will allways be respectfull to your obedience to the Mormon faith!!!

Will I eventually have to become a "Mormon" and wholeheartedly submit in every way in order to fellowship? I like being "Non-Denominational" and there will never be anyone who takes presidence over the Holy Spirit when it comes to my interpretations of the teachings of Christ.

So how do you think my experience will go? Of course I realize this may have alot to do with location - Boise, ID.

We'll see, but I can't wait to fellowship with people who are so commited to our God. I really think this will turn out great.

  6. Hey Pam! What's the word for the day sister? I'll have to check it tommorow, the next time I get online...hehehe. Then I'll have double the Word hopefully.

    Teach me somfin:)

  7. I posted this same topic on another "Christian" forum to see what kind of responses I'd get and would like to hear your responses as well. I'm especially curious as to what Joseph Smith said concerning the Sabbath Day. Surely God would have cleared this up for him.

    Here is my main point.

"I know that Christ rebuked the Pharisees for thier accusations against him working on the Sabbath Day but he never denied the Sabbath Day or said that anything was going to change about it. In fact when asked how to recieve eternal life he often spoke of obeying the Ten Direct Commandments of God. In response to them the only thing he said was things like, wouldn't you rescue your ox, or, haven't you read - it's ok for the priests on duty to work on the Sabbath Day. Perhaps the most evident scripture from Christ himself of the modern day Seventh Day Sabbath is:

    Matthew 24

20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

Why did the Sabbath Day change? Constantine changed it, and He accually ordered the deaths of those who refused to change to the first day of the week instead of the seventh. Now, who are we supposed to follow - Christ or Constantine? Just the fact that Constantine ordered the Seventh Day Sabbath keepers deaths tells me he didn't even know God."

  8. People have a misconception of what it means to be God. He is not 100% blissful. If he were, he would have to ignore the pleas and pains of his children. The scriptures show God shedding tears for his children. The struggle is part of His glory, as is the pain. But just as with parents raising children struggle with them often, so is the glory and joy. God's glory is to bring about the immortality and eternal life of mankind (Moses 1:39). It is a selfless desire he has, and it is this selflessness that brings him glory and the greatest joy.

Not everyone wants to be like God is. Their focus is more upon themselves than on creating and blessing. That is why there is more than one kingdom available. I'm sure there will be a place for those who only want to play video games, but do not desire to make a real and true impact in others' lives. That requires us to care and have compassion, which means being open to disappointment, sadness, and tears. But it also opens us up to the greatest of joys.

God is the universe's greatest risk taker, because he gambles with his infinite love that we will accept him fully. Video games are fun, but they do not truly matter in the long run. They do not change the universe in any special way. Creating beauty, creating life and giving it a chance to grow up to meet it's fullest potential, THAT is what true joy is all about.

If you are not humble and brave enough to accept all it means to be a god under Christ, then I'm sure our Heavenly Father will have available a kingdom and glory more to your liking.

I really enjoyed reading that brother.

This is indeed a very hard to transition to faith - to be a god - but, my master does remind me of the scriptures. The first thing that comes to mind are the words of Yahushua himself when he quoted the Psalms, which clearly say that some "leaders" of His people are "gods". In fact, God Himself calls them gods. I think it is extremely important to realize that we will never be worshipped though and it is only the Big G that will ever be worshipped.

    Agree?

  9. The reason I believe this mystery of God - Yahushua is God - is because all througout the Old Testament we see that God calls himself the "First and the Last". Then, in Revelation Yahushua claims he is the first and the last. I don't think it can be any more clearer than that.

Revelation 1 (Christ says He is "The First and The Last")

17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.

Of course while here on earth he tried to hide his identity and never claimed this so boldly, but simply said he was the Son of God. It is enough to believe that only, in my opinion.

  10. Anatess, Traveler, and BlackMarch, I really appreciate you taking the time to post that information for me and that's exactly what I was looking for. You answered that extremely well BlackMarch. Thank you so much and I look forward to further studying your faith and fellowship, with prayer, and possibly even visiting one of your temples. I've allways enjoyed fellowshipping with people who are so commited to our God.

    Be Blessed,

    Brother Shawn

  11. The Book of Enoch is not a part of the Book of Mormon, although Enoch is mentioned in our Scriptures

I Covenanted with God that I would follow His Word of Wisdom part of my Covenant is to drink no tea or coffee -- its an obediance thing. Gods part of the same Covenant is to give us health, thats an in general Covenant and not a specific - we still have to do our part; we can't lay around eating chocolates and chips and expect to be able to run a marathon.

I follow the Word of Wisdom because I Covenanted to.

I'll leave the death question to someone else as it's time for dinner -- Welcome though

Here is a link that may interest you, it takes you to our Articles of Faith which are statements of our beliefs

Thanks for the input. I hear you about the Covenant and that makes sense and is very respectable. First thing I thought about was the Recobites.

Please forgive me for using a lack of better words. Lets call it the life/Heaven question. You made me realize that when you said "I'll leave the death question for someone else" and just left... lol.

  12. Hi brothers and sisters, I'm really a non-denominational disciple of Christ but because my new home will be in Boise ID next week I feel the need to learn more about the Mormon faith.

I'll start by giving you some information about where I stand in my faith. If I had to name it, I guess I'd just say "Disciple of Christ." The teachings from Christ that are found in the Gospels are my foundation and everything else is built upon that. I take the teachiings of Christ very serious and if there is anything that contradicts anything that he says in just the slightest bit, I'll have absolutely nothing to do with it. For example, the Sermon on the Mount is the greatest sermon ever preached in my opinion, and if taken seriously it should be extremely convicting to us - with the help of God's Holy Spirit. Then, on top of that foundation would be the books written by Peter and John. After those comes the rest of the "Bible" although I have had problems with Paul.

Without going into detail about my testimony I'll just say that God called me all by himself through the words in red one day and I dropped to my knees in repentance and was immediately baptized into His precious Holy Spirit. I was also baptized in a non-denominational church at a ripe age of 7 and knew full well what baptism and repentance was. I know God! I am a firm believer in obedience, but also understand that I have no power of my own. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer, and prayer is also one of the keys - just as important as the key of faith. Without a earnest prayer life I am useless and fallen away from the heart of God. I'm also a person who will never say that any individual "believer" will not make it to Heaven just because they don't believe or see things exactly as I do. When I say that I mean, I believe there are certain essentials in order to be saved and as long as they have that they could possibly be my brother or sister in Christ. These essentials are simply repentance, and the most important - The Lamb!!! I believe if someone is deeply sorry for doing the things that caused Christ to suffer so much and they stop, and then obey the teachings of Christ to the best of thier ability they are saved. This means I greatly honor the sacrifice of the Lamb, who of course is now seated at the right hand of the Father. Of course there are many commandments we must obey such as the baptism of repentance but that's between them and God and he is a gracious judge. Those judgements are all up to Him, but I know there will not be anyone in Heaven who refused to repent and obey Christ.... it's that simple.

I've known many Mormons and it's allways been a huge blessing to meet people of your fellowship. I can say that the ones I've met were great representatives and disciples of Christ, living Holy lives. That says it all to me and I don't think I've ever thought negitive thoughts against your faith. I really don't know much about the details but I know enough to know you are my brothers and sisters. A while back I bought a journal from a thrift store. I only had to scratch the name out of the first page and put my name since it wasn't used yet. Then I noticed D&C stickers on it with little notes that I thought were great. I didn't know what that was at the time but now I understand it to be Mormon. So the next time I met with one of your elders I was very interested in reading from your other books... other than the Bible.

So now, here I am moving to Boise and I'd love to learn more about the Mormons. Here are a few things I'd like to discuss if you don't mind:

    - Do you read the Book of Enoch? I thought I remember Enoch being in the Book of Mormon.

    - What's wrong with tea? lol Not to speak against your prophet but I can't help but wonder why he wouldn't let you drink something that would be so highly beneficial for your health - speaking of decaffinated green teas and especially "detox" teas. With all the toxins in everything I would think they would promote any tea that helps in detoxifying our bodies.

    - Can someone give me a "detailed" explanation of what your faith says happens when people die. I'm sure there are writings on this. But I'm curious because I think I remember there may be different levels to heaven or something like that, and also what happens to the unsaved. I think I remember that the Mormon faith has this graphically detailed in every possible direction for every person. Please expound on this with your own words as well as a link please.

Well, that's it for now. Sorry to write a book but I figured I'd be thorough.

Oh and one more thing. I like to use the name Yahushua instead of Jesus but don't mind using either. It's just that when I'm in serious prayer I make sure I use the name Yahushua!!!

    Be Blessed,

    Yahuchannon

  13. Hi brothers and sisters. I'm really no denomination but I'm moving to the Boise ID. area and since I've been there before I know there are many Mormon brothers and sisters there so I've decided to join this forum in hopes of learniing more about this denomination. I look forward to being blessed with your fellowship here at LDS.net and getting to know you all better.

    Be Blessed
