  1. I am a 40 year old male from Florida. I am also hearing impaired. I had lived w/o a hearing aid for 30 years. W/o the aid, I've learned to speak foreign languages, play musical instruments, sing karaoke and participated in sports. I served a mission to Holland from 1990-92. I play the flute, piccolo, piano and percussion instruments: xylophone, bells, chimes, quints and tymphonys. I participated in sports of basketball for 2 yrs, wrestled my last 2 years and had done gymnastics. I also was employed at different places too: Burger King, MacDonald's, Walt Disney World, Star Trek: The Experience, Hamburger Mary's, Joey's Bistro and Walgreen's and later in Illinois I had worked at a truck stop doing utility work. But after having had health problems, I became disabled. I get state money each month. But, that doesn't stop me from doing what I love: teaching the gospel. The languages I had learned are French in school for 1yr, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, German, Swedish, Icelandic, a little Hawaiian and American Sign Language. I also enjoy writing poetry/short stories, do artwork of oil and drawing of land, sea and mountainscapes, trees, flowers, animals, still life and calligraphy in different languages. I also do knitting, sewing, crocheting, needle point, cross stitching, embroidery, weaving, braiding. I enjoy also gardening, cooking, swimming, diving, biking, walking, wrestling. I even enjoy meeting other people: Bart Connor the Olympic gymnast and actor, and many actors from StarTrek, Battlestar Galatica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and other sci-fi shows of television. I am also the eldest in my family of seven: 3 younger brothers and 3 younger sisters. I was the first that my parents adopted: extra special!!! (LOL, but being humble about it). I had helped some people change their lives from what I have told them and they had thanked me for that. I was really blessed to hear those remarks. Even after I graduated, I was an assistant wrestling coach at my high school for several years. One of the kids that I had worked with told me he even made states, TWICE!!! His stepfather thanked me for working with him. That is one thing that I never got from my dad: a compliment on something that I had achieved. My testimony is growing everyday that I live. And I thank Heavenly Father ever day and night for my life and my family that I have. If anyone like to know anything else about me, please leave a message here or at [email protected] and I'll respond, okay? I know that this is a True and Living Church of Christ. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God today and all of the 12 Apostles are true witnesses of Him. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and all of the modern scriptures are true, even the messages from the Church Magazines, which are words from our leaders. In the name of our Beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. Bro. Shannon Tucker
  2. My name is Shannon Tucker. I am a hearing impaired person. I had lived w/o a hearing aid for 30 years. W/o the aid, I've learned to speak several languages and one of them is Dutch. I served in Holland from 1990-92. I had also had one year of French in school and studied before my mission Russian on my own. I picked up the German language when I was in Holland as well as other languages: Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Swedish. And I had used these languages on my mission there. I love the gospel. It has strengthen me when I thought all else was lost. Even after my parents divorced, I continued to be a missionary. I read my patriarchial blessing often (except for 13 years when it was lost), but after I got it replaced, I read it OFTEN. It is a wonderful blessing to have. I have shared the gospel with many people, some of which thanked me for sharing it with them, but decided that they were not ready yet to change their faith. I had been to many different Temples and have met people who were deaf or hearing impaired and have shared my testimony to them in sign language. They were amazed that I had learned signing on my own, from other people and from different movies that had signing in it. I even helped the missionaries when I had lived with my dad in Lincoln, Il with the missionaries that needed help with interpreting for them. I became a sign language specialist later after returning to Florida. I keep up with my Dutch language and my other languages that I have by reading the Book of Mormon in that language. If you wish to know anything else from me, please let me know!! Brother Shannon Tucker from Deep Creek Ward; Lake City, Florida.
