I couldn't tell you what is in their hearts or heads. I wasn't asking the question to judge or condem them. Just to find out the church's stand on things.

Thank you for such a quick reply. I am glad to hear what you posted, it makes me feel better for her, I was afraid he might have been telling her about wanting to be sealed to her even though he knew it could never happen and she would get her heart broke.

I know a man who is a member of the LDS church, he hasn't went to church for a very long time. He is currently going through a divorce and has started keeping company with a woman in another town. She isn't a member but the way they talk she is considering becoming one. What is the LDS's stand on a situation like this? I have heard alot of things of excommunications before. I am not a member yet, I have taken the classes but have not taken that final step yet. I know both these people and they are good people and both of them want to start going to church faithfully and get a temple recommend so that after they have been married a year and she has been a member for a year they want to try to get temple recommends so that they can be sealed. But what I have heard about the stand the church takes they may not be able to? I don't want to see her get hurt setting her heart on something that will not be able to happen? Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on this subject
