I have a query and I was wondering if anyone can guide me in the right direction. My father in law fell down 8 weeks back and after a week he was diagnosed with chylothorax. He is now admitted in a hospital and was kept on conventional treatment which is fat free diet and regular drainage of chyle but after 4 days, chyle leakage was not going less than 1400ml a day. Then the doctors suggested for robotic surgery. In that they ligated the duct. But in a few day we found that the leakage did not stop and the lungs were compromised again. Now he is again admitted to the hospital and they are putting him again on conservative method ie. (conventional treatment which is fat free diet and regular drainage of chyle) with the addition of octreotide this time. After taking octreotide the leakage of chyle is reduced to 500ml a day, but it hasn't stopped leaking and still has a milky white color. Since the chyle leakage reduced, doctors performed pleurectomy, but the chyle leakage still hasn't stopped yet. I would thank anyone who could be of help to us in this trying time, just to consult if there is another way to go about this. I can email you all the reports if needed. I need your comments and views on best way to go forward now. Thanks a lot for your help in advance. Looking forward to hear from you.
