  1. thats great! thanks alot everyone for your help!! it has definitely given me some ideas and somewhere to start. THANKS
  2. I think IMO the best area to live in would be the NW I don;t know why but when I lived up in that area of the city I just felt warm and fuzzy inside. I currently live in the SW part of the city which is pretty good too. I think it all depends on how close you are to down town(if you plan on working there). The rockies are not that far from Calgary Banff is one of the biggest tourist spots around. There is also Lake Louise. If it is being close to the rockies you are looking for then Calgary is perfet. Tis only a 45 minute drive to the Mountains from Calgary. If you are thinking of Waterton that is south of Calgary, if you are familiar with the Cardston, Alberta Temple tis only about a hour from there. Cardston is about 2hrs south of Calgary. What part of the rockies were you looking for??? The Memeber here are great and veryu freindly I think you would love it here heck even the non-memebrs are freindly thats great, cheers! yeah ive looked at Banff on the net and it looks realy nice! i dont realy know what part of the Rockies im looking for, i dont know too much about them, they just look beautiful. i like kayaking/canoeing, biking, skiing, climbing etc. so what ever part of the Rockies would be best for that kind of thing? what do you think of the schools in Waterton and Cardston? i dont particulary want to live in the city, just close enough to commute if ness, say bout 30 min drive away Hey Dan, Don't really talk with them that much but next time I'm on Facebook I'll ask my SIL how she likes the new home and area. Calgary is about an hour from Banff, Lake Louise (rockies). You are 3 hours from the Edmonton Temple (north) and about 3 hours from the Cardston Temple (south). Southern Alberta has a good sized Mormon community (Lethbridge, Raymond, Cardston, Magrath). Residential real estate prices have gone up incredibly in the last 18 months, so the smaller communities are probably lower in cost, like Okotoks. Hope that helps. M. thanks for that Maureen!! it would be interesting to hear what they have to say. what is it like if you want to build your own house in these areas? do you think that would be a good idea or more hassle then its worth? what are some of the closer place that you would recommend?
  3. what about the schools in these areas? how far away from the rockies is somewhere like Cardston and Lethbridge time/distence?
  4. thtas great, cheers! are these areas closer to the Rockies? do you know what the schools are like in these areas? what is the general living cost there? like how much is income tax, do you have things like national insurence?
  5. thanks Soul! we were thinking of going just outside Calgary, just to get away abit from the main city. what areas would you recommend? what kind of prices are the property out there? how strong is the church just outside Calgary? thanks Dan

  8. hi I am English and i am seriously thinking of moving my family and myself to Canada. we were thinking of Calgary or there-a-bouts (near the Rockies). we LOVE the outdoors!!! could anyone tell me where the good areas are, for things like schools, wards/stakes, houses etc. also I am a truck driver (class2), so it would also be very useful if there were alot of driving jobs near the area :) I would be VERY greatful for any info!! thanks Dan
