  1. Someone said earlier that they should see it from our views. This is a 2 way street, We should also see it from their view point to also be fair. Yes President Obama is not LDS so why should he care? Simply, Because it is his mother.
  2. Donesn't one believe that since President Obama and his sister are the closest descendents of his late mother, they should have been the people to ask?
  3. Let me just give you my current experience from this. I had my name removed in 2007 and I am currently in the process of coming back. Tell her, to not be afraid. People at church know that I made the mistake of resigning. They do not look down at me. I am treated the same as I was before I resigned. In fact, All the members of the ward have welcomed me back with open arms. The first time I met with the bishop a few months ago I was very afraid. In actuality, I had no reason to be afraid. The bishop was very kind and understanding. He is there to help guide me into returning to the lord's church. I respect him so much for that. Tell your wife, That in the beginning she wil lbe afraid, but that is only natural. However, she will be welcomed back with open arms as she returns to the lord's church. That is the great thing about this gospel, We can all make mistakes and repent and return to this gospel. We all make mistakes as humans, it is how we learn from those mistakes and fix them and try our hardest to learn and grow from them. If she is nervous at first, have her contact the missionaries, that is what I did to get started.
  4. I was actually thinking about this recently. Since I resigned and am currently in the porcess of returning to membership in the church, If I could get a 2nd PB, since my resignation made everything else null and void.
  5. Congratulations on your mission call to Japan. May the spirit be with you always!
  6. You extended the olive branch of friendship. That is all you can do. Now, it is up to them. Just focus on yourself and graduation. Good luck.
  7. MarginofError, Why would the church deny anyone's request to return to the church of the lord? To me that does not make any sense?
  8. Let me just add something here. I actually went through the process of having my name removed from church membership records. I actually resigned. I am currently in the process of repenting and coming back into full membership in the church. I have regretted my decision ever since I mailed in the letter to Salt Lake. My best advice as having to go through this, Please tell your friend to not do it. Face the council. She will be a better person for it.
  9. Is it possible for people to be sealed to their in-laws?
  10. Let me rephrase that, I did not commit any major sins, I don't smoke, drink alcohol, do drugs, have sex...or any of that other stuff. I keep my life pretty clean.
  11. I'm just very anxious to come back to the church and be a full member and once again receive the blessings in my life. That is all. Am I able to consider myself a mormon even though I am currently not a member of the church?
  12. Thanks for the replies everyone. I do know in the truthfulness of this gospel and I am never going to leave it again. I guess I am just so excited to receive all the covnenants again.
  13. I am currently working my way back into becoming a member once again.(I resigned in 2007) I have a meeting scheduled with the bishop on Tuesday night concerning taking the missionary discussions and baptism. My question is, Is it possible to be baptized, once again receive the melchizedek priesthood and a temple recommend say in a span of 6 months? I didn't sin while I was not a member. I now have a full testimony of this gospel. My goal is to go to the temple sometime this year and receive my endowments.
  14. I am so happy for you. Congratulations. You can only grow stronger because of this problem. I wish you nothing but happiness in your future.
  15. I am going to be rooting for my hometown Steelers!
  16. With myself being from the Pittsburgh area and not a Steelers fan, I have decided to throw my support for the Steelers during the next few weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. I also lost a bet at work, now I have to wear a Ben Roethlisberger jersey the day of the Super Bowl. It will pain me to wear it. Especially since I am a Dallas Cowboys fan.
  17. I absolutely love this movie. Especially the part where the investigator tells Elder Calhoun he wants to be baptized. Kirby Heyborne is a fantastic actor in my opinion. I must admit, my favorite church movie is Charly.
  18. Sometimes after taking care of other's and sacrificing alot and not receiving anything in return, I feel we have to put ourselves first for a bit. I know that may sound a bit selfish, I believe it to be true. We can only offer the olive branch for so long before we must rescind it.
  19. I live in the Pittsburgh, PA area and it is going to be crazy this weekend. Although I am not a Steelers fan.(I am a Dallas Cowboys fan). I am going to be cheering and rooting for the Ravens!
  20. I know how you feel. About 6 years ago a now former co-worker spread this vicious rumor at work concerning a girl I use to have a crush on. I did not pursue any action against my now former co-worker. The only advice I can give you is that time heals all wounds. The person who spread the rumor ended up quitting about 2 years later.
  21. That is exactly what pushes people away from the church. When one keeps trying to re-activate people. Sometimes one may come across as to pushy when they don't mean to and that is a big turn off for people.
  22. Sometimes one just has to acceptm that these kids do not want to be re-activated.
  23. What kind of insurance does the church offer for it's missionaries?
  24. My bad. I apologize. I did not read that post.
