  1. Which is why I make my own clothes. Granted, they are not up to these days styles but I do enjoy dressing up in a walking skirt and gibson girl style waists. I especially love the gowns of the early 1900's and I'm not embarrassed to wear them. I figure, anything goes these days.
  2. Unhappy and traumatic experiences as a child growing up I know has contributed greatly with the depression. I've been to dr's and psychologists but nothing much has changed with how I feel about this time of year. Though these are my favorite seasons (I'd move farther north if it was possible) I feel they would be even better without worrying about holidays. I love my Lord and Savior, I'm just not up to celebrating anything with anyone. It's difficult with children because I must put on a false face to make it enjoyable for them. At these times, I find myself isolating and hoping it will all be over soon.
  3. Anyone else get crippling depression around this time of year? For me it usually starts after Halloween and doesn't end until after the New Year. I'm not saying that I do not like the holidays and what they represent, but because what the world has made it. I'm not willing to go into debt for a holiday and I don't like the constant discussions revolving around how much money others are spending or what they are buying. Holidays these days are so commercialized that the true meaning is completely lost. Over the last few years as our children have grown, we've been moving away from the norm of Christmas. We've stopped buying gifts and focused on being together as a family. The next obvious step would be to help others during this season. Isn't that what Christ would do? I didn't come here to preach. I just wanted to know if others were in the same mind as myself. I know we can't change the world ourselves but sometimes I wish it would come to its senses.
  4. Maybe we have litters up there. Just Kidding
  5. I finally found a Louis Segond (Thank you Monk)set of scriptures and hopefully I will receive them at the end of this week. The beautiful thing about reading the Book of Mormon in another language is the repetition of it that helps me remember the vocabulary and keeps my brain continually challenged. Of course, there is the spiritual side of it that keeps me going, too. I definantly recommend it to other bilingual Saints.
  6. I've already tried the distribution center and they do not have them. That is where I got all of my other French scriptures but the Bible. So, I thought I'd try here thinking that perhaps someone would know which french scriptures to use that are closest to the KJV.
  7. If I hope to ever go on a mission to France, Belgium or Canada, I want to be fluent with the scriptures in French. It may not be important to other members to have them, but for me it is. Not only is it fulfilling spiritually, it keeps my mind busy and working. My French teacher (who is not a member), to whom I've given a book of Mormon wants to read the book with me, all of which will be conducted in the French language.
  8. I made my own gown out of batiste and cotton insertion lace. I tend to be very old fashioned in my dress and quite honestly, disliked the styles that the beehive offered (sorry!). I went with an Edwardian style gown (early 1900's) that suited me and met the modesty guidelines for the temple. Of course, it also meant that I needed several petticoats, a chemise and a camisole to finish the ensemble but I must admit, when I wear my garments, I feel beautiful (which is rare for me) and I'm ready for our Lords work and His presence. My gown is completely washable and have no problems with feeling too warm. The cotton is breathable and comfortable. Polyester and nylon were two fabrics immediately dismissed due to lack of breathability and meltdown if the drier got too hot.
  9. No, actually, I don't have anything to ask you. I was raised a baptist as a young'un so I pretty much know what it's about and don't ever care to go back.
  10. No, Amazon does not have them. Those are bibles bound in french leather. I want one that is written in French. I don't want to purchase just any old french bible. I need one as close to the english KJV version as possible so I thought perhaps someone here might now.
  11. Hi all. I'm looking for a French KJV bible and can't seem to find one. If not the KJV, what other good version is out there? I already have the D&C, BOM, POGP and the AOF in french. Just missing the other.
