There was an excellent conference recently held at BYU called the SANE Symposium, or Students of the Ancient Near East Symposium. There were several scholars who spoke and shared many insights on Temples, ancient Temple worship, and other subjects.

Here is a very interesting lecture on Christian Prayer Circles in Early Christianity. He made some very interesting parallels, and showed some very interesting paintings.
