YoungMormonRoyalist Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 ...anyone know any good scriptures or talks on change? That's the topic I was given for this sunday, it will be my first time as an adult and concluding speaker so I'm expected to talk about 12-15 minutes. Just looking for some references. Quote
BenRaines Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 One from the Book of Mormon comes to mind regarding "experiencing a mighty change of heart". Also like the book of Enos. Alma the younger and the Sons of Helaman. To name a few. Ben Raines Quote
YoungMormonRoyalist Posted December 11, 2008 Author Report Posted December 11, 2008 I'm including those in the talk, as they are amazing scriptures. But the talk can also include parts about changes in life, changes in circumstances, changes in anything really. I'm thinking of using the famous 'There is a time for..." scripture from Ecclesiastes. tubaloth Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 My home coming talk was about change. How I changed on a mission, how people change there life with the whole might change of heart. And how people around me ha changed while I was gone. You are on the right path. Talk about the Changing process (Alma 36) How each of use have to be born again! We have to change from our old life to a new one! This is what being converted to the Gospel really is. Quote
john doe Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Try one of Obama's speeches from earlier this year. He used to be big on change. Quote
nimrod Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 I believe one of the talks given by President Monson discussed Change at the October General Conference. Alma 7 "The natural man is an enemy to God...." In Helaman? Quote
RickJ Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 I love the story of the change wrought in Zacchaeus by the Saviour and then highlighting it with the lack of willingness to change by the "rich young man". Quote
YoungMormonRoyalist Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 The talk went off without a hitch....like it was really really good.... I turned and my dad was crying (He's FC in the bishopric) and the Bishop told me to take it with me on my mission. The elders approached me about giving them a copy because an investigator asked for one, and a new couple to the ward thought I was an RM. I used all of your references, from the mighty change of heart, to the story of Zacchaeus. Did I feel the spirit? Most definitely Do I feel some pride? Okay sorta... But thank you all. Quote
