Hello bytor,:)

I wonder if Ignatius, Polycarp, Ireneus, Augustine, Clement ( to name a mere few ) would also think it was a " Great commentary "??

Peace and God bless

At the risk of offending my new Catholic friend.......they just might. Of course, I hope you know that I meant no offense to you or anyone of the many visitors of other faiths. This is a great commentary......if you are LDS might be more appropriate.:)

No offense at all my friend :) ( Although my guess would be that they certainly would label it something different than a " great commentary ")

I respect and fully relaize the LDS MUST of the " Great Apostasy ".

I was simply wondering if many of the Early Church Fathers would have thought of it a a " Great Commentary " ( That's all, something to simply think about ):)

It would be very interesting indeed to hear what they think of the state of Christianity if they could view it today.

Yes indeed, it would be interesting BUT " today " is not what the " Great Commentary " was talking about. I was wondering what they would think of the commentary speaking of their lives in their times regarding all their work and sacrifice, helping others find the Lord.

True, the heaven still teemed with stars, an uncounted host of them, for there were many wise and good people who reflected forth to others such light and truth and goodness as they had. And month after month a new moon arose to reflect such of heaven’s truths as came by instinct and from reason. There was a St. Augustine, a Maimonides, a Joan of Arc, a Thomas More, a Michelangelo, a Galileo, a host of others—each for the month when their moon shone—who reflected such borrowed light as in their power lay. But the light of heaven no longer shed its rays on the strait and narrow path which leads to eternal life.

Ahh, but he did write favorably of those who blazed the path.....perhaps he didn't give credit specifically to those you mention, but credit nonetheless.

My Dear Dear friend bytor,

Perhaps we are missing eachother here.

I realize he threw some a bone ( I was not judging him nor you ). I was simply wondering what the several Church Fathers ( 1800 years or so ) would have thought of his commentary. ( Nothing more, simply wondering what view they have as they all look down and laugh at us all ):)

Peace,
