The Other Sock

===============

There has been a lot of discussion in many of the scientific

journals recently concerning alternate universes.

Is this the only reality?

There is no hard scientific proof one way or the other,

but I have a theory.

My pens and the other sock seem to go somewhere.

I can't seem to find a pen even though I buy them by the dozen.

It would seem by common logic that if I keep buying pens, then

pens should start piling up to where there should be a pen

within easy reach whenever I wanted one.

But no, when I look for a pen, I can't find one anywhere.

It's the same with the other sock.

Perhaps this is the greatest evidence so far for an alternate

universe and somehow the other sock and my pens

...are going over there.

Funny you mention this...Alternate Universes were exactly what I had in mind when I opened that topic asking "Did God cancel His Plan of Salvation"?

I was thinking, what if the LDS Church is true, but once we reached the 20th Century, we split off into an Alternate Universe? In the original timeline, the 20th Century is a peaceful utopia (with lots of pens and socks), because people behaved themselves, so God told his Prophets everything they needed to know to convert the world to the LDS Church, and therefore accomplish World Peace...and continues to talk to them today.

But we got stuck in a timeline where people started unnecessary wars, so God got annoyed and cancelled his plan and stopped talking to His Prophets.

I could be wrong...perhaps the Church is true in all universes, or perhaps it is not true in all universes.

It certainly opens up alot of philosophical possibilities B)

Even if there are alternate space-time continuums, which I don't believe are excluded by present laws of physics, if God is as eternal as the scriptures indicate, then we ask "Is God in charge of all of them (if there is a limited number)?" or "was He created along with this present universe", 10 to 13 billion years ago--that certainly seems like an eternity ago. Since there are lots of scriptural terms that don't really mean what they say "all of this" or "never this" or "the whole world Flooded"--which of course it didn't, so all and the whole and never, don't actually mean what they say.......then perhaps when the scriptures say God is eternal, it doesn't really mean all THAT eternal, just 10 to 13 billion years eternal.

Tao:

I must be getting low blood sugar from not having had lunch yet, but for some reason I found that line fall-off-my-chair funny.

PD,

Do you go on line from work? If so, does your boss give you any trouble---I'm off today, so the school district can't monitor me! My computer at work won't go on Chat rooms or message boards anyway.

Or purhaps we have misread it all along and this is actually hell and we have already been judged. ;)
