So, I saw another post about ironing shirts or something like that, so I thought if I could be some advice on what to do with my labtop keyboard. A couple of weeks ago I spilt V8 juice on it. Sometimes it works okay and other times it gets bad. Today it has been the worst ever.

It will cost $100 to fix it at this computer store. He said I could get another keyboard and plug it into my labtop. The thing is I have no money...so I don't have those means.

Any ideas? The computer guy said if I pulled of the keys and cleaned underneath that it would break a few of the pads so I would have keys that did not work.

I have to like slam on the keys to get them to write this...this is what happens if I write to churches name without correcting:

The church of Jesus Christof LAter day saints

Well, that wasn't too bad.

The Church of JEsus Christ of LAtttter day saints

The Church of JESus Christ of LAter-day Saints

The Church of JEsus Christ of LAter-day saints

The Church of JESu Christ of LAtttttttttt-er day saints

You can buy new laptop keyboards, though it's not as easy as buying a new keyboard for a standard PC (this is why I rarely buy laptops, when they break they can be so awkward to fix, because there is so little standard to them). Each make and model of laptop has a different keyboard you need, so most of the time it has to come from the manufacturer (unless you can find a company who purchases them in bulk from the manufacturer). Most of them are fairly easy to replace once you have the correct keyboard, but occasionally they can be difficult and involve taking the entire thing apart to replace it.

If you don't want to replace it, then try lifting the keys off and seeing what is under them (just the dodgy ones). Yes, they are very delicate and you risk breaking them so you can't get them back on. But lets face it, it doesn't work now does it? The keyboard is already broken, so if it breaks some more it makes no difference, you'll just have to buy another keyboard. Just get a flat headed screwdriver and gently prise them off. I've done it a few times in the past and I've not managed to break any yet.

Also, the guy is right, you can just buy a USB keyboard and plug it into the laptop, the basic ones are extremely cheap (they cost about £3 for us, so six bucks for you if you go to the right places).

I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse at home and 19" monitor, so I only use the regular keyboard if I am watching tv during a Woot-off. Then I take the netbook to the couch, since I don't really need the keyboard much for that. Obviously that is not a good solution for traveling, tho we do take the mouse with my wife's laptop when traveling.

Your best solution is just buying a USB Keyboard.

This one at Walmart

Walmart.com: Logitech Classic Keyboard 200 w/ USB Interface: Computers

is 12.88. Thats probably because its USB. You could even talk to your friends and see if they have laying around. (Remember it probably needs to be USB). There is PS/2 thats a different type of connection (and older) and you could find those for cheaper.

Well...i MIGHT have to get a new desk....uuuuuhhhh

My brother messed up my computer as well upgrading it...I almost mine as well buy a new one. Maybe I'll have the money tax season and when school starts.

But I can get all of those problems fix for $100. So maybe I should just do that. I have to carry this thing around sometimes for school assignments and such.
