So, I feel kinda stupid asking this question. If this was anywhere else on the internet I would expect to be laughed off the discussion board, so be gentle please.

I am still continually learning more about the church and want to make sure I am living the standards.

the verse I am looking @ is DC 89:8 "And again, tobacco is not for the abody, neither for the belly, and is not good for man, but is an herb for bruises and all sick cattle, to be used with judgment and skill."

I am a big fan of various colognes, and many cologne notes use scents that would be against the word of wisdom if used improperly. Tobacco, coffee, etc. I can give you two examples of colognes I have purchased that use such.

The Dreamer by Versace (1996) base note-tobacco

L'Eau D'Issey pour Homme by Issey Miyake (1994) base note-tobacco amber

Is something like this going to stop me from being able to enter into the temple? Should I get rid of all the colognes I have that use these fragrence notes such as these? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. Thanks.

I think the problem here is smoking it, not using it as a cologne. :)

And there are instances where tobacco helps certain problems like ADD and pain because Nicotine is an alkaloid that is currently being tested as a natural pain medication.

I think that the Word of Wisdom is meant to be used with prudence. So for example: If you are sick and can't eat or drink much, black and orange pekoe teas have natural properties that sooth the stomach and help as an antiviral. Now drinking it all the time isn't good for you but there was a time when my sister was given orders from her doctor to drink a cup of tea before bed to tighten the sphincter muscles of between the stomach and esophagus so she'd not have such bad acid reflux...and believe it or not after three weeks, she was fine.

I'm not advocating the liberal use of any thing the Word of Wisdom counsels against but as someone who can't take a lot of traditional drugs as I react to many pain med and antibiotics, I rely heavily on natural plants and herbs for healing.
