Guest Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I grew up in Meridian and live fairly close. I'm so excited about the temple being built there! I hope there will be more information given next Conference. In the meantime, do any of you Idahoans past or present have any hunch about where it might be? My thoughts are that it will either be at the southeast corner of the new Ten Mile interchange, or at Ten Mile and Chinden, where the Church happens to already own about 5 acres of property (is that even enough?). I also wonder whether it will be a full-sized temple with laundry facilities and such, or a mini temple. Quote
BenRaines Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I lived in Meridian for a couple of years. I would say at one of the Stake sites. Mini temple. Have the full sized temple in Boise already. Chinden and Locust Grove would be a guess. BenRaines Quote
Guest Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Interesting, I hadn't considered that stake center. I had my wedding reception there. I think it might be surrounded by houses now; I'll have to drive by and look next time I'm over there. Quote
BenRaines Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Some houses to the north. Softball fields and open land to the south. Ben Raines Quote
dahlia Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 One of my missionaries was from Meridian. They were at my house during Conference and the guy almost hit the ceiling with excitement when the new temple was announced! I don't recall the locations he mentioned, but he was thinking aloud where the temple might be placed and said there was a road with some farmland fronting it. Apparently someone had wanted the land previously but the farmers wouldn't give it up. The elder said the farmers were all LDS and would probably sell to the Church. Quote
scenicidaho Posted July 7, 2011 Report Posted July 7, 2011 Since I have visited several temples in the USA and Canada and also keep a close eye on temple locations and progress of temples being built, I was very surprised at the Meridian, Idaho announcement. My first step was to locate all Stake Centers in Meridian to get an idea where it might be located. The first location was West of the Meridian West Stake Center between W. Cherry Lane and W. Ustick Road on N. Black Cat Road. There happens to be an open field about the same size as the Boise Temple plot. Next guess was to create a new Stake in Meridian and put it by the Ten Mile Interchange probably the Southeast corner. My reasoning is that a lot of Temples are placed by Stake Centers and are highly visible. It is fun to think about but no matter where it is located it will be a great blessing to have two Temples in the valley. Robert Peterson Nampa Quote
trippy22 Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 So it has been rumored that the temple may be built around the 10 mile exit. dahlia i have heard the same thing about the farmers. I think it is going to be a full sized temple. They are removing the laundry and the kitchen from the Boise temple. So i'm assuming that the Meridian temple will have those services. Its fun to speculate and we are anxiously waiting more information. Quote
