ldsz
I am absolutely thrilled to have been called as a primary teacher for the CTR 7 class! I am 18 years old and a convert to the church. I have no idea how primary works. Does anyone have any advice? Especially with interacting with the younger members I'll be teaching? What works and what doesn't? I know that's pretty open-ended, but if anyone has anything to say by way of advice, I would certainly appreciate it! Thank you! Guest mormonmusic
As a teacher for many years, my advice is to look at the class as an activity period. One in which you have many things the kids can DO. There can be periods of talking, but it's all aimed at preparing the class for the activity that you will do -- whether a craft, a game, or something that keeps them involved and engaged. You know you are teaching well when: 1. The room is abuzz with talking but it's directed primarily at the task they are doing. 2. You have to be told to get out of the room because you've gone overtime. 3. They start bringing their friends to the class (if they are older) Get Teaching No Greater Call and read over its principles for teaching kids in your age group. That's all I've got for the minute.
